If there is a drain issue, sometimes there is an obvious solution. Check the drain hose for any kinks, as well as checking any lint filters in or on the drain hose. Is there a lint sock on the end that's full? Perhaps the drain line itself is plugged. You will want to make sure that the house drain system is not backed up or plugged. Always make sure that the washer drain hose is above the level of water in the drain tub. Some Whirlpool/Kenmore washers make use of a side-check valve near the tub outlet which may get clogged. A standpipe should be at least 1 1/4 inches in diameter, and never seal a drain hose into a standpipe. This can lead to back-siphoning. You also want to make sure that the standpipe is less than 96 inches in height. Pump problems show various symptoms. Sometimes the pump will lock up and seize. If the motor is running, it will continue to try to turn the pump. In the case of belt-driven pumps, the belt may break or burn through. The pulley may shear off. If there is enough tension on the belt, and the motor continues to try to turn it, you may wind up with a seized motor as well. The pump itself may have seized bearings, be jammed by clothing or another object; or the impeller blades may be broken off. The usual fix is to replace the pump.
If you think your pump may be jammed, drain out your tub and remove the hoses. Look inside the hoses and see if there are any obstructions. Feel around inside the pump inlets for anything that may be jamming the pump itself. You can also use long-nosed pliers to feel around inside the pump for any items that may be causing a jam. If you haven't found a jam, and you still believe there may be a jam in the pump, you can completely remove the pump from the washer and inspect it more closely.
Occasionally, transmission gears may become worn, or some other internal part may go bad. Some older washer models have an electric-mechanical shifter. If it won't shift, it's best to call a professional appliance repair person to address this issue. If your transmission is leaking oil, there are really only two options at this point, either run it until it dies completely, or replace it now.

Hi, my machine lets in water and starts spinning as if the spin and drain programme is selected, spins then pauses and repeats the process. What could be faulty?

Hi, mine does this sometimes when it is out of balance, sometimes it will keep doing it for 30 minutes before I open it, move the clothes around and rebalance. It does this to keep from throwing the washer drum off its mounts with an unbalanced load. It tries to go backwards and forwards during the 2 minute pause to mix up the clothes to rebalance by itself - sometimes it just can't get it and needs your help to separate the clothes so it can spin without vibrating.

Hope this helps!

How do i reset washing machine AEG 64840

You can choose the right programme for any type of laundry following the descriptions on the washing programme tables (see «Washing Programmes»).
Turn the programme selector dial to the required programme. The programme selector determines the type of washing cycle (e.g. water level, drum movement, number of rinses) and the washing temperature according to the type of laundry.
The pilot light of button 8 starts blinking.
The selector dial can be turned either clockwise or anticlockwise. Position "0" to Reset programme/ Switching OFF of the machine.
At the end of the programme the selector dial must be turned to position "0", to switch the machine off.
If you turn the programme selector dial to another programme when the machine is working, the yellow pilot light of button 8 will blink 3 times and the message Err is displayed on the display to indicate a wrong selection. The machine will not perform the new selected programme.

Not spinning and goes back to start of programme

Sounds like a problem we had on are washing machine. I assume that the you have confirmed that the pump has removed the pre spin water ?
We found the problem that the small pipe to the sensor from the sump area had a split in it. The sensor could not detect most of the water had been pumped out so it kept trying to empty

New machine - cannot get it to start - when i go through sequence as manual, choose programme options etc, then press start, top light in sequence goes orange instead of green and programme does not start.

Have you remode the transit screw ./ bolt? Does the drum turn freely by hand - it should. Is the water supply turned on and connected to the machine? If not the machine will not work. Also make sure that the door is firmly closed. If these are OK then switch off the machine at the mains and wait for 30 mins then switch it back on and try again.

Water keeps draining LG WF-561SPP top loader

If the cycle does not stop draining that is usually because of a faulty membrane switch that controls the water level in your appliance.
The faulty sensor cause the machine to think that there is still water inside, even when water has drained completely.

INDESIT WD10 WASHER N DRYER WATER WONT EMPTY PLZ HELP

I had exactly the same problem, found the answer on another website. The filter had a small sock stuck in it, stoppin the ppump from turning and draining the water out. Lever off the front panel right at the bottom of the washine machine, then unscrew the round black plug, lots of water will come out. Pull out the black thing and stick you fingers inside and pull out watever is blocking the pump. Turn off the electrics first. Mine now works fine again. :)

The machine only allows a limited time for all the water to drain out before it starts spinning. If the is a blockage or obstruction in the drain hose or drain pump, the machine will not allow all the water to be pumped out and it will not spin. Check for any restriction especially under the sink/tub where the drain hose attatches to the drain spigot.
