Sounds like a Xbox 360. The DVD drive seems to be bad on this console. You can either find a repair shop to replace the DVD drive and motor or contact Xbox to have it repaired.

Hi just recently my psp cd rom case came off. as a result,it cant read the UMD. can anyone help? thanks nihal

Well, you should clean the CD and check for scratches and attempt to fit the case back on snug. If it still won't read it, you need a whole new game sadly.

HOW to Recover Data from Scratched CD's

HOW to Recover Data from Scratched CDs

All CD or DVD are always get some scratches when you use or even if your carefully using it,there's time that accidentally make some scratch in it.this tip is a painless techniques on how to create a full working CD from the scratched one. I have personally tested this and had fixed a CD that would not read data at all. This tip works best with small unreadable scratches, as some hard scratches are too deep and loose the data permanently.

Requirements:

1:Alcohol 120% software [or similar]
2:Cooking oil
3:Small piece of cotton
4:Dry cleaner paper

Follow this simple steps to fix a scratched CD for repair purposes:

In step one you must do some preparation work on the CD. Begin by wetting the cotton with water. Begin to clean the CD in a vertical motion; three firm wipes shall be sufficient. Dry the CD with the dry cleaner paper.

Using another piece of cotton, apply oil to the CD surface. Be sure to do this with caution and not overuse oil. After a through cleaning, dry carefully. Particles from the oil will stay on the micro surface of the scratch. It appears that the oil helps the laser of the CD/DVD driver
to read the surface again.

After downloading and installing Alcohol 120% software, run the program and select to create an ISO - image making wizard. Attempt to read the CD drive and test if the program can read the Alcohol 120% software is recommended for this, as it is known to recover data more efficiently than other ISO software.

If a successful read is obtained, I recommended creating a new CD immediately. Copy all the data from the CD to the hard drive or create an ISO of the CD for immediate use. With a favorite burning utility, burn the ISO or data onto a new CD.

My Playstation 2 damages CD's. The laser seems to melt the disk, making circular scratches. I don't know if the CD is melted (maybe it's scratched by something else in the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM...

If the PS2 is standing upright, switch it to the laying position. Having it stand upright can sometimes cause the drive to damage disks.

When i switch on PS2, loading of a CD takes lot of time, may for half n hour or some. Some times its even not responding for long time. some thing disk error. how to solve this...?

This problem could be one of three things.
1 - Your CD is scratched so badly that the PS2 is unable to read the data on it. To check if this is the problem try the disk on a friends PS2, if this is the problem there are a number of off the shelf CD scratch fixers available.
2 - Your disk motor is broken. Sometimes this happens when the console gets on in the years, its the thing that makes your disk spin. To check if this is the problem note the disks position when you put it in, if it is in the same position after you receive the error and remove it, the problem is with the motor. To fix this you would need to speak with Sony or someone specializing in Consoles to fix or replace it.
3 - Your laser is broken. Again, this sometimes happens as the console gets older, if the problem is not one of the two above it is this. Again you would have to speak to either Sony or a shop that works with consoles to fix or replace it.

Destroyed Game

It sounds like the console's reader scratched your disc. This can occur when moving the console while it is on, the disc can slip off and get heavily scratched.

I would try grabbing a blank (unimportant) cd or disc and place it in the disc tray, then turning on the console to see if the console is scratching the disc.

Also, be sure to have the console FLAT on the ground, NOT vertical. This can greatly decrease any chance of the console scratching your discs.

I personally have had my XBOX wreck 3 different game's now due to just tapping or nudging the console. I took my wrecked games to a local used game shop like GameStop where they will take the disc from you and allow a discounted price (usually around $10) for a replacement used game.

There is not much you can do about the wrecked disc. You can attempt to have the disc resurfaced (local video rental shops can do this). Microsoft does have a disc replacement program however it takes weeks to have the game returned, and they only allow certain games to be replaced. More information on that can be found here:
http://support.xbox.com/support/en/us/xbox360/gamesandmedia/games/discreplacement/DiscReplacementPlan.aspx

Hope this helps!

Scratched disk

hi, this is a common problem with all video games consoles that take cd and the same for music cds.
Most people throw them out when they get scratced and start jumping or in your case wont load the game.
The good news is you can buy a cd polishing kit which polishes the scratches out of the disk.

How it works is you place the cd into a like similar to a cd box but it has three sanding wheels then when you put the disk in you then turn a small handle and the three polishing pads spin round and polish the scratches out of the cd getting the disk to work again.

The problem is finding some where that sells them i know Maplin stock them and sells them but if you have trouble finding anywhere that sells them then the best thing to do is type in in your browser "cd scratch remover" then this will list a load of sites that sell this product.
Its not expensive to buy and its well worth getting one as you can use it loads of times so if in the future you have more problems with scratches then its worth getting one.

Hope this is the help you was looking for i know they work as i use one myself for my ps2 and music cds that get scratched.

Let me know how you get on or if you have any questions.

On any cd the bottom part that the laser reads doesnt have the information and the data on it it is burned into the top part so as you look at a cd and where the writing is on top of the cd if this is scratched and you can see through the disk then it cant be repaired but if its the bottom part that the laser reads from then removing the scratches will solve your problem.
The scratches cause the laser to miss that bit of data thats under the scratch so polishing these out will be the same as having a new cd.

Disc tray

My console does the same thing just take the faceplate off and when you press the open button grab the disc tray and gently assist your console in pushing out the tray. Taking the faceplate off does not terminate your warranty.
