You need to buy a TV card which comes with audio /video composite sockets. these are female RCA or phono sockets which are also found on your camera.TV cards come with their own software to be able to capture pictures from your Hi 8 Camcorder using the av cables like the ones you use from your DVD to your TV set. There are other cards which carry the av sockets and come with video capture software. These cards are usually PCI cards which are fitted into your PCI slot in your PC motherboard. One other software that comes with such a card is Pinnacle Studio. Its called the Pinnacle AV/DV pci capture card. The one I use is just a DC 10 which works with Studios version 8. Please try any of these cards for your video capture

I want to dowload the video from my HVC Sony Hi8 CCD-TVR138 to my notebook. I haven´t the cable. How can I do it? Sony Hi8 CCD-TRV138 Hi-8 Analog Camcorder

You can get videos from this camera, or any analogue video source, into a computer, but you need more than just a cable. You have to play them into an analogue video interface port. These are available as expansion slot cards for a desktop PC, or as a USB plug-in interface (which is what you need for a laptop). The interface will come with drivers and probably software to digitise the video input and record it to a file. Lots of third party video editing software will also be able to accept the input from this kind of port. You don't need any "driver" related to the camera, it is just a video signal source. The connecting leads will be standard RCA signal plugs, like the ones you use to connect to a TV or VHS recorder. You probably already have a lead for this.

Can not find software to run my ccd-TRV138 camcorder on windows 7.can i be helped?

Hi,
Sony CCD-TRV138 is analog video-8 camcorder that can not be hooked directly with computer because computer needs digital data file where as this camcorder is an analog and has no digital file format.

If you want to transfer CCD-TRV138 movies in computer, you need to convert its analog Audio-Video signal into digital format then save it in computer for further process/ edit etc.

Hook CCD-TRV138 with DVD Recorder in AV Input and burn a DVD, this process will convert analog movie into digital data format, put that CD in your computer and copy-paste files in computer.
Hope this info will help you.
Thanks.

I am having a sony hi 8 ccd trv 58 model handycam. i want a driver to transfer my videos to my personal computer. any free drivers available?

CCD-TRV58 is analog camcorder and can not be connected with computer directly as camcorder does not have USB or iLink/ DV ports.
Computer needs digital format movie data to store / edit files.
You need to hook camcorder audio-video out to DVD recorder and burn DVD of camcorder movie so you will get digital format of movie. Put that DVD in computer and copy files for further process.

Drivers for ccd-trv608 HI-8

This is the only solution that I have found that really works. The only problem is you need access to a computer running XP. On the Sony website they have drivers for XP. The XP drivers work for Vista, but vista will not let you install them normally. So on an XP computer goto the sony website and download the xp drivers and install them on the xp computer. Then all you need to do is go into your C: drive and there will be a folder called "Drivers" in that folder you will see the sony usb folder. Just copy it, onto a disc or thumb drive. then copy the folder to your vista computer. You can put it anywhere, I jsut put it on the desktop for easy access. Then plug in your usb cable for the camcorder, let it try to install, then it will give you an option to sellect the files yourself, browse to the folder you coppied onto your desktop and Viola, Vista will find the drivers and install them. you now can use the usb connection on your camcorder.

if you are having a hard time finding the files, email me and I will send them to you.
