It means the drum drive assy is about to go out on you, I fond this is the cheapest price for that part and would'nt recommend you change it until you have quality issues. But it would be smart to have one on hand and ready to replace so your not down for any length of time. click here!

Data mb-460 drum life

Yes,

That message indicates the drum is getting close to the end of life. The printer shows the message a bit before the end of life on the drum so you have time to order one before it goes out completely. You can get them from your office supply dealer or from Amazon.com

Have a message on a OKI printer C530

The fault is not clear with your request, the drum need not be replaced until it is worn out. So the fault seen must be taken to account.

Drum light flashes

This means that you will need to replace the drum soon. Order a new drum and when the light becomes steady or the print quality becomes poor, replace the drum. The drum should last ~12,000 pages. The part number is DR350. You may be able to order this from your Office Supply store; otherwise try the Brother Mall site: http://www.brothermall.com/Accessories/AccessoryDetail.aspx?AccessID=DR350&AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1 .

The procedure is similar to replacing the toner but instead of putting a new thing of toner inside the drum, you remove the toner and put it in the new drum. Open the front cover and pull out the drum and toner assembly. Place on newspaper or other disposable material (toner may spill). Push down the blue lever to unlock the toner cartridge. Remove the cartridge from the drum. Unpack the new drum (keep it out of the light until ready to replace the drum). Push the toner cartridge into the new drum until it locks into place; the blue lever should lift automatically. Put the assembly back in the printer. Clean the printer as recommended in the manual while it is open; this includes cleaning the corona wire before replacing the drum assembly.

After replacing the drum, reset the drum counter: with the printer on and the drum light blinking, open the front cover and press and hold the GO button until all of the LEDs light up (about 4 seconds). Then release the GO button and close the cover. Check that the drum light is off. (The manual says you should do the reset first but I tend to avoid this in case of distractions.)

I hope this helps.

You need to order the drum unit. It's different from the toners. You can replace it after the part comes in - you do not need a technicain to come in to do it for you. You can find the part from Amazon or Brother website.

K image drum

The K drum sensor is probably covered with toner residue.
First clean out excess toner spill and see if you can clean the sensor , which should be an opening on the right side wall directly across the K drum. Use a cottonswab with alcohol.
If the sensor is bad, you should have a tech look at it, The sensor board is held in with14 springs!

I am getting the message "Drum near End". Can I obtain a drum and install it myself?

Yes, you can obtain a drum and install it yourself. You can find either a Brother brand drum or order aftermarket drums from other places. A Drum is good for 25,000 pages, and a catridge is good for about 7000 pages, depending on whether it is high-yield or not.

The drum must be replaced after printing 25,000 pages. So refer to the manual, order one or go purchase one in the store and you can replace it yourself.

Message on printer

Your printer has counter on it that keeps track of the number pages that have been printed with it. It is warning you that the drum unit is coming close to the end of it's rated life. Order a black drum unit and have it on hand. Some time in the near future the printer will stop operating until you install the new drum which will come with instructions on how to install it. If you order it now, you will avert a "Crisis" later. Ed
