Question about Panasonic NV-GS40 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

CARD LOCK - cannot clear on Panasonic NV-GS40

My Panasonic NV-GS40 continually presents the message CARD LOCKED even though I haven't touched the card slide.Changing to other cards, including newly unwrapped cards, the problem remains - then, very occasionally, the camera allows me to take some pictures as normal and then returns the message CARD LOCKED - and prevents any further photos being taken. Extremely frustrating !!!

I appreciate any help or referral for a solution

Try gently cleaning out the card slot on the camera, in case dust or debris is interfering with the electronic connections.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: CARD LOCKED ON PANASONIC NV-GS40

I have exactly the same problem - but very occasionally, it returns to normal, I can take a few pictures then up comes the message 'CARD LOCKED' . I change for different cards and the problem is always the same. Nobody seems to have a solution and Panasonic do not answer any questions about their defective products. I am very disappointed having bought this camera. All my previous cameras were Sony with no problems whatsoever experienced.

-try a power cycle
*remove battery and disconnect from power cord
*i would also suggest to check the tapes if they're clean
*try to clean the tape head inside the tape deck(tape head: the one that reads the tape)
-try using a soft and dry Q-tip to clean the metal parts inside the tape deck(dont use or apply any liquid solutions. just a plain soft dry Q-tip.

What does it mean when it saids your memory card is lock I haven't lock it.Please help Thank You

Look at your memory card. SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

"Card Locked"

Hi!
There's a small switch on the memory card reader inside the camera which detects that the card is locked. Most likely this switch is broken. You can try to point it with needle or something but I'm afraid you will have to give it away for a repair to a local repair shop or Canon service center.
