Question about Delphi SKYFi3 XM Radio Receiver

1 Answer

XM SkiFi3 My SkiFi 3 has no sound output??? I've tried through Home Kit, Car Kit and headphones, nothing. It will not play MP3's or recorded content. Screen looks fine, signal is fine, everything works but the sound ouput.

No sound comes out of the left speaker no matter which radio I hook it to. It doesn't matter if it is the car or home.

Welcome to the life of owning a SkyFi 3. I'm on my third SkyFi 3 with the same problem. You need to call Delphi at 1.877.go.delphi and if you still have the original receipt, they will give you an address to send it to and then they will send you a re-conditioned one. They told me that you should not play computer speakers through your home kit, but no where in their literature does it say not to. I originally was doing that at work, so on the second one I did not, then I was walking with my headphones on one day and "pop" it went out. Just a really bad piece of electrical equipment, I will never buy another Delphi product.

Same thing happen to me today -- worked great yesterday. Everything on screen was there receiving. Tried in both home units, and with headphones -- car unit freaks it out when its too cold so I didn't go there. Still no volume or sound. My issue is I have XM broadcast stored prior to adding SD card that I don't want to loose. Plus a car unit and 3 home units (upstairs, downstairs and work) for the SkyFi3. Replaced my MyFi with the SkyFi3 when the MyFi power button broke. SkyFi with car unit was only $30 at Best Buy at the time-now a lot more. I'm averaging just about 1 1/2 years with Delphi products. Question is -- where to go from here?

I am on my second SkyFi3.. Same thing, the output goes out and no sound. It only works via the FM Tuner. Will they still replace it even if the warranty period has ended?

Interesting.  There is a thing called impedance matching.  If the speakers input Imped. doesn't match the SkyFi's Output imped. you can overload it.  Sort of the electrical analogy to drinking from a firehose.  Try charging it and using it on a regular line level input for, like, a stereo.

Sounds like its the dock itself. Have you tried using the home dock with the vehicle power or visa versa? This should help you confirm what the problem is. You can get a replacement power adapter here:

A cradle may be difficult to find, but TSS Radio can help you look.

Want to copy songs in my mifi xm to computer how? only have the 3.5 plug on my mifi

This is of course against the rules of your XM user agreement, but if you wanted to 'test' this out, just run the 3.5mm plug from your earphone jack to your 3.5mm 'LINE' input on your computer. Load the free program called "Audacity" on your computer, hit 'record' and you can record and edit the song, saving as an MP3 or WAV file. Again, this is against the XM rules, so this is all just theoretical okay? You would then need a program like Nero to take the MP3 or WAV and record to a blank CD. Just a theory though.

You must have a subscription and listen 'live' 8 hours a month, or it doesn't let you listen to recorded content anymore (thanks to the RIAA and their royalty fees to XM)

My XM recording plays but doesn't have audio.

Recently I had the same problem - could see it was playing on the screen, but no sound in the headphones. Pulled battery and reinserted. That solved the problem, whatever it was.

Broken SkiFi vs New SkiFi 2? Direct Replacement? Please advise-Thanks

The original SkyFi's display was quite difficult to see in the sunlight. The glare was too much. The new unit's display is a different material, and sunken in to alleviate the problem of glare.
The SkyFi2 also has TuneSelect. It was the first receiver to allow the user to enter the artist information for memory. Other units with TuneSelect only allowed song titles.
It also added a 3rd bank of presets, allowing for 30 presets instead of the original's 20 presets. SkyFi2 added the option of a stock ticker, or sports score ticker in the display. The original SkyFi's option of 3 different displays included the channel number only, to be displayed. Also, there is a built in FM modulator so you can set the tune on the reciever... and yes you will be able to use all of your accessories.

My XM Delph MyFi won't "record"

I get the same problem once in a while. Try removing the back cover and hitting the reset button via a paper clip--then try accessing the stored content. The MyFi should "release" the stored content.

XM 2 GO Not Playing

I had the same problem. I had to reset (use a paper clip into the RESET hole under the battery cover ( or pull out the battery for a a couple of minutes). Then, after recording some songs, I switched over MYXM and then began rotating the channel selector dial. The volume indicator arrow moved off zero and began advancing up the volume scale. I kept doing it until it about half way and my sound was back.
