SOURCE: ive had my optoma ep721 projector probably for likle 2 months and

1 of 2 things happened here. Either the power supply is spent or your lamp ballast is busted. In either case it would have to be opened and repaired professionally. may cost upwards of a new projector, so look around for a decent shop and have them test it. If you dont mind me asking, if you decide to get rid of it would you mind selling me the lamp cheaply. Doesnt matter if its burn out, just need the glass from the bulb if its not broken. Hope i helped.

SOURCE: projector turns on the power light flashing and lamp light solid

Here's the fix: Take off the top cover of the projector. Unplug the wire leading from the two fans in the back of the unit to one of the circuit boards in front of you. Just trace one wire from fan to board. Unplug at board. Turn unit on and it will again turn on, show HP splash screen and then shut down, like it should, because the fans are now disabled. After it completly shuts down, plug the fan wire back into the board. Turn the unit back on and, presto, its working again. It will not turn off.

Try it!

SOURCE: no display from projector

try resetting the lamp timer. if that doesn't work: listen for a high pitched whir when you power it on. if you don't hear it, the colorwheel needs replacing. if you do hear it and it doesn't light, the ballast is bad and needs replacing.

Why would my projector refuse to start with a seemingly intact light bulb?

If you only have 300 hours on it it should still be under warranty. Before doing something to void that I would check with Optoma techs.

I my projector is new one used for 4 hrs, when i try to turn it on it just has a blinking green light. Please help Solve It! .

The blinking green light means the unit is either Powering On (Warming Up) or Powering Off (Cooling Down).

Powering On the Projector
1. Remove the lens cap.
2. Securely connect the power cord and signal cable. When connected, the ON/STANDBY LED will turn Amber.
3. Turn on the lamp by pressing " " button either on the top of the projector or on the remote. The ON/STANDBY LED will now turn Green. The startup screen will display in approximately 10 seconds. The first time you use the projector, you can select your preferred language from quick menu after the startup screen displays.
4. Turn on and connect the source that you want to display on the screen (computer, notebook, video player, etc). The projector will detect the source automatically. If not, push menu button and go to "SETUP". Make sure that the "Source Lock" has been set to "Off". If you connect multiple sources at the same time, press the "SOURCE" button on the control panel or direct source keys on the remote control to switch between inputs.

If you are still unable to get the unit to turn on, try unplugging it for 10 minutes and plugging it back in. If it still ceases to work, contact Optoma here: http://www.optomausa.com/rma_policy.asp

When I turn on the TV the green start up light blinks green and the TV comes on with picture and sound for about 2 seconds, then turns itself off and the code light blinks 4 times, pauses then blinks 4...

4 times blinking means Fan stopped, power is not supplied on Fan 1, Fan 2 Fan 3 and at Fan 4. Or Fan connector is not attached securely. Cleaning these fans by using a vacuum cleaner can also solve your problem. Sometimes these fans are clogged by dust.

Optoma hd65 projector new bulb wont turn on...cant reset timer!

I think it's a lamp driver issue from what I've seen others have gone through. I also read that if you go through the sequence of unplugging, plug back in, wait 20 seconds and try to turn on, multiple times, it will finally kick on and work. I just got mine to turn back on by doing this and waiting through the fan cycling without the light turning on. After the 4th sequence the light flickered. After the 7th sequence it finally turned on and is working. Now I can watch the Super Bowl and will look into replacing soon.

Wont turn on. Green light comes on for a few seconds, andthen goes back o0ff.

Hi if its a Lcd or Dlp rptv most likely its time to replace the lamp if tv is between 2-4 yrs.If you hear clicking it could be the ballast which is the board that powers the lamp.Make sure fans are running ok ,dust them out if they are dirty.God bless you!

Optoma RD50 TV which shuts down on #1 fan failure

This could be a variant of, or a newer (or older) version of the "DMD fan failure" message.

Symptoms I had are, I stop hearing a fan when the message is displayed.
Then the temp LED keeps flashing RED until I either try to turn the TV on again,
Or turn MAIN power off/on again. BUT it repeats when I try to turn the TV on.
The picture appears normal until this happens ( about 15 sec.)

The solution is to FORCE a normal shutdown by hitting the TV off button
before the message appears.
You should see the power LED flashing RED/GREEN (cool down) and then RED (standby).

Optoma EP716 turns on but no picture displays

Don't ever just unplug the power cord while it is on. The bulb needs to cool down with the fan still on.
Did you ever connect a source?
