Multi page scan problem

When I put multi-page documents into the feeder of my HP M1522 mfp and scan them, the first page comes out fine but the following pages are just full of long black smudges and streaks. It's as if every page after the first one was run over the scanner either too slowly or too quickly!

- By the way, I am using Windows Vista (32) which means I had quite an ordeal even installing my printer as the CD contains a bug. I had to download the drivers and MFP software from the HP site to get it working.
