Question regarding toshiba 42h82 not 42h81

I need to know the number/letter locations of the convergence resistors and values and convergence picos if any for a toshiba 42h82

and is it ok to use stk392-150 to replace the stk392-110?

thanks

very good.............i can fix convergence problems but i always have problems getting resistor value and locations.......usually they are near the conv ics but sometimes there are other resistors in the same area .with no markings sometimes

    thanks

This is like a quiz right?? Let's see ;;;;;;; by convergence resistors I assume you mean the yoke return resistors out in front of the amps. There are 6, in the 2.2ohm 1w range, easy enough to find. The value of the convergence amps, that unit uses two stk392-110 Sanyo original Ic's rated at 6amps. You can use stk392-150's or stk392-180's just a higher amp rating. The two pico fuses in that circuit are F851 and F852 respectively.
Hope I get an "A"

Buy a good DMM (Digital Multi-Meter) set it for ohms in the low range and test each resistor out in front of the amps. You can get a color code chart or program in a search through Google. Then each resisitor that is less than 10% it's value replace it... If you find one in which are nearly gone replace it anyway. Likely the heat has destroyed the markings. Use a service manual and locate the location number of the part to find the correct value.

(6) 1.8 ohm 1watt metal film resistors for R7711, R7716, R7721, R7726, R7731 and R7736 yes the STK 392-150 will work fine.

I replaced my convergence chips and I still have a convergence problem. Its not as bad but I still cant line up the blue convergence cross exactly

Sounds like your over half way there lol..
You now need to check the resistors positioned near the convergence ic's. They are your likely problem and go bad often when the ic's fail.

They are normally about 2watt and the values will vary but normally are like .10 ohms to 1 ohm.
I cant find a schematic to give you the exact values and locations but if these resistors measure off value at all you need to replace them with the exact value of the originals.

Heres a link to resistor color code guides just in case the value numbers are not printed on the resistors

The only items on your set that should need replacement would be both convergence IC IC801 and IC802 which are both STK392-570 and you will also need to change the two 5 Amp pico fuses which are F9A04 and F9A05 they are both % amp pico fuses. All parts are located on the center Board

Samsung HCN4226 Convergence.

Did you remove one side of the resistors from circuit to check them? If you leave them in circuit a blown resistor will test good as it will read the resistance from the surrounding resistors. Usually its the 3.9 ohm resistors identified bu the bands orange, white ,gold and red. and also the 150 ohm identified by the bands brown, green, brown and gold

The problem is likely to be the digital convergence board that generates the convergence signal that is amplified by the output ICs.

Check here or here and do a search on the part you need. I would suggest that before changing those ICs you check the micro/pico fuses near where the ICs are connected as well the low values resistors.
Good Luck.

Pico/ Resistors what are these??

Pico means small and these look like little small resistors, but don't have stripes like resistors, just part numbers. They should measure as a dead short and be in the immediate vicinity of the STK's

The convergence amps have most likely failed and taken with them the +/- 30v line. Your unit takes two STK392-040 Sanyo built Ics at board location Icz103 and Icz104 and usually one or more pico fuses and some low ohm resistors. F1018 sometimes opens due to stress but generally it's just the two 6.3 amp pico fuses and if they have opened I strongly recommend replacing them with a 6.3 amp slo-blo pico.
The low ohm resistors at RZ147, RZ146 usually show signs of heat stress and may even be burned beyond recognition. Testing at that point is almost unnecessary but will confirm their change in value. Almost always they need to be replaced.
A quality shop will have this unit back on its feet in no time - faster if they have the parts in-stock, which you might ask about when you shop around for a good repair facility.
Have a great day!
