Compaq presario v1000 starting problem

Can any one help me in solving my problem?. i have compaq presario v1000 with win xp OS. the problem is that it is not starting at all. i mean that when ever i press the power button the HARD DISK light is ON for 3 OR 4 SECONDS, the FAN also STARTS for 3 OR 4 SECONDS then the laptop comes to an HALT, there is no action at all and the FAN STOP and the HARD DISK LIGHT is OFF.
the last time i used the laptop and i SHUT DOWN it properly and there was NO PROBLEM at all with the laptop.
please any one help me.ill be greatfull.

If you have changed OS, your problem probably is not due to malware or bloat.
Upgraded to 2gb ram, new hard drive. And still you think it is too slow.
I think either you are too fussy, and expect too much OR your laptop has major problems at a chipset level.
Have you tried running some benchmark software to check if it really is running slow???

I would Do a fresh install of windows, SELL it and change to a different model.
Try checking a couple of reviews on sites like Custom PC, for a good fast laptop.

Presario f700 drivers

You have to download XP drivers from the manufacturer's website. This normally happens because your harware was designed for the new OS(Vista).

Just go to hp.com and search for the model of your Laptop.

For XP, the drivers should already be installed. Try running windows update and see if it shows something new.
