Check the sound and audio devices in control panel. under the sound audio devices click hardware> and choose the default devices for audio. or check the device manager. settings>control panel>system>hardware>device manager>sound, video and game controller> if there is a ? (question mark) means there's no driver installed, you can right click the device that has question mark and update driver. or install the driver by knowing first your audio devices.

if you have a installer for your audio device just reinstall it, if not try to download first for a program called Belarc Advisor. this program allows to identify what kind of device you have in your computer, you can download it through this link: http://www.download.com/3001-2001_4-10867615.html after installing it, its normal for a long pauses in the progress bar cauze its profiling. when its done open your web browser and look the category for main circuit board. there you can see what audio device you have. after knowing the model type . your can download it a list of driver in www. driverguide.com. Just pm if this would help. thanks.
