All typeset and pictures have shadows/blur have changed out video card on Lenovo computer - seemed successful for a while but now back to square one. any ideas

Try a different "data" cable between the monitor and the computer.

Connect the monitor to a different desktop/laptop.
If the "shadowing" is still visible, then it's the monitor that has gone "bad'.

Connect a different monitor to your Lenovo computer.
If the "shadowing" is still visible, then your monitor is OK, and your video-card is the problem.

Acer Monitor P191W - how can I remove what looks like a

LCD Monitor Shadow Effect
This problem is best described as the LCD monitor "Shadow Effect".
The solution to this very simple. No software or hard ware changes required.
The cables that are connected to the LCD monitors are causing the problem. Its also called as electromagnetic noise or electrical noise.
Solution: Keep the two cables - (power cable and moitor display cable), that are connected to the LCD monitor as far away as possible with each other and also away from other electrical cables.
Thats it. Your shadow effect is fixed.
Thank you.

Monitor Picture is Blurry because of shadows

If you've already checked all your cable connections, to make sure they're tight, check your windows settings: Go to Start>rt click My computer, choose properties, settings on performance, and choose adjust for best performance. (This will uncheck the shadow options for menus and icons, etc.) Take a look at your desktop. Is that better? If so, you might want to do some maintenance to improve your system performance by clicking here.
If no improvement, download or open the .pdf user guide for your monitor by clicking here. See pages 22, 17, and 12. They will show you how to use the auto button on the monitor to reset to optimal settings, to adjust the refresh rate (control panel>display>settings>advanced) to its optimum. (Normally, higher refresh rates indicate clearer pictures, but some LCD monitors seem to run better at a default 60hz rate. Check your Gateway documentation for your graphics adapter to see what it supports, (your monitor supports 60, 70, & 75), or experiment.)
If adjusting settings doesn't improve anything, you could search for updated drivers for your graphics adapter. Go to windows update and see if you're offered hardware updates, or search Gateway support for newer drivers.
Not many options left. See here. You could take it in to a local tech and have them take a quick look.( or try it on another computer).
If it's on its way to a sad end, I'm sorry. We have the same monitor at home and it's been great. Aside from a scratch someone put in it years back, it provides very clear resolution.

Double Images / Shadows on the monitor screen

I read through other solutions to this problem because I had the same problem. I checked to make sure electrical cords were properly attached, and vola! problem solved! I had no idea this problem could be fixed just by checking the cord connections. Thanks a million for posting this solution. I had been putting up with the shadowing, streaking for months! You really made my day.

Problem with monitor

Shadow after text is usually caused by an impedence or termination issue. If you have a multimeter, check the VGA connector pins 1 2 3 (R G B) vs GND should be 75 ohms. If not, cable is damaged or poor quality. Try a new VGA cable, should cost $5+
If the edge of the text is wavy, there is too much jitter in the signals coming from the graphics chips. No fix possible.
If the edges of the characters are lumpy, then the panel has a cheap A/D converter, try using it in DVI mode instead (white-white connectors instead of blue).
