Describe your LG k170 signal problem Problem

Instructions
  1. jQuery(document).ready(function(){ jQuery('#jsArticleStep1 span.image a:first').attr('href','http://i.ehow.com/images/a05/k7/ln/troubleshoot-_a-home-network-1.1-800X800.jpg'); }); Make sure you have run the Network Setup Wizard on each of your computers, even if you have configured it manually. Your file and printer sharing are disabled until you run the wizard at least once.
  2. jQuery(document).ready(function(){ jQuery('#jsArticleStep2 span.image a:first').attr('href','http://i.ehow.com/images/a05/k7/ln/troubleshoot-_a-home-network-1.2-800X800.jpg'); }); If the problem is that some of your computers appear in My Network Places or View Work group Computers, while others do not, wait about 20 minutes or so and then check again. If all computers still do not appear, and you have older versions of Windows running, like Windows 9x or Me on your network, restart the Windows XP computers, wait for about 3 to 4 minutes then start up your older computers. Wait for a few minutes then check again. If that does not work try booting your computers in various orders.
  3. jQuery(document).ready(function(){ jQuery('#jsArticleStep3 span.image a:first').attr('href','http://i.ehow.com/images/a05/k7/ln/troubleshoot-_a-home-network-1.3-800X800.jpg'); }); On each of your computers, click Start, My Computer, select My Network Places, and then select View Network Connections Look for the Local Area Network Icon. See if the Icon says "disconnected". If the answer is yes then you have a problem with your cables or your network adapter. Repair before proceeding.
  4. jQuery(document).ready(function(){ jQuery('#jsArticleStep4 span.image a:first').attr('href','http://i.ehow.com/images/a05/k7/ln/troubleshoot-_a-home-network-1.4-800X800.jpg'); }); Now, look to see if any of your Local Area Connection Icons say "Firewalled" next to them. If you find this problem then Your Windows Connection Firewall might be blocking printer and file sharing on that computer. Go to your Firewall Protection and make the needed changes.
  5. jQuery(document).ready(function(){ jQuery('#jsArticleStep5 span.image a:first').attr('href','http://i.ehow.com/images/a05/k7/ln/troubleshoot-_a-home-network-1.5-800X800.jpg'); }); Another thing to try is to go to start and right click on My Computer and choose Properties. View the computer Name tab. Each of your computers should have a different name and the same work group name on it. If they do not have different names then you will have to change them. Restart your computers you adjusted and see if this made a difference.
  6. jQuery(document).ready(function(){ jQuery('#jsArticleStep6 span.image a:first').attr('href','http://i.ehow.com/images/a05/k7/ln/troubleshoot-_a-home-network-1.6-800X800.jpg'); }); You can also try something else by going to each computer and click Start, All Programs, Accessories and then Command Prompt. In the Command Prompt window, type ipconfig and then press Enter. Under the Local Area Command Prompt entry, Windows should show you a different address for each of your computers. If any of your computers have the same address or if the addresses are not similar, then you will need to repair this before proceeding.
  7. jQuery(document).ready(function(){ jQuery('#jsArticleStep7 span.image a:first').attr('href','http://i.ehow.com/images/a05/k7/ln/troubleshoot-_a-home-network-1.7-800X800.jpg'); }); In the same Prompt Window as above and from only one computer, use the ping command to see if that computer can communicate with each of your other computers. To do this, type x.x.x.x in the Command Prompt Window. You are substituting the actual I.P address of your other computers for x.x.x.x in turn. You should be seeing several Reply from lines each time you do this. If any computer does not respond, then you have a cable or hardware problem. Repair this first then proceed with further tests.
  8. jQuery(document).ready(function(){ jQuery('#jsArticleStep8 span.image a:first').attr('href','http://i.ehow.com/images/a05/k7/ln/troubleshoot-_a-home-network-1.8-800X800.jpg'); }); Make sure that all of your computers have the same network protocols.
  9. jQuery(document).ready(function(){ jQuery('#jsArticleStep9 span.image a:first').attr('href','http://i.ehow.com/images/a05/k7/ln/troubleshoot-_a-home-network-1.9-800X800.jpg'); }); If you still are having trouble with your Windows Network you may have to call in a professional or a computer experienced friend to help you.

Cannot "ping" 192.168.1.1 (default gateway)

1) yes, referring to the router's IP address.

2) I determined the IP addresses of all my computers and tried to "ping" them but could not "ping" any of them. I can "ping" the IP address of the computer I am working from but I don't think that helps in TS this situation.

3) I'm wondering if my router is fully set up correctly. Do each of the computers have to be "saved" in the router's settings?
