please ping your router gateway, for seeing default gateway you take command prompt and type ipconfig, there you can see your default gateway then type ping gatewayip (eg: ping 192.168.0.1) if you are getting reply from that gateway your computer communicating with your router. If you are getting request timedout then there is a problen in communication. If you are getting the reply then you just ping google (ping www.google.com).getting reply the connection to the internet is fine.If not there is problen in internet connection in the router.

I can't connect to internet explorer

Try another Web Browser like Firefox or Mozilla to see if you can browse the web. You have to use another pc to download the firefox/mozilla browser and install it on your non-working pc.

If other browser works, then open up Internet Explorer and click on Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/Reset and click OK/Apply. If that does not work, download IE browser again from another pc and install it on the non-working pc.

If other web browser does not work, verify that you can ping outside and get a reply. Click Start/ click Run and type cmd and press enter. Type ping www.fixya.com and press enter. You will get a reply if you have internet connection. If you do not get a reply when you ping www.fixya.com and other computer connects to the internet, scan your PC for malwares.

I keep losing internet connection

can you ping following IP 's and see if you get time out
ping 192.168.2.1 -t -w 5000 -l 1
ping yahoo.com -t -w 5000 -l 1
if time out your are geeting only with 192.168.2.1 then there is connection i suue between your PC and router if you get reply with 192.168.2.1 then check the ping yahoo.com if there is time out with yahoo.com then you have internet link issue which you can get support from your ISP .

I am unable to connect to Yahoo mail. The Internet cannot display this page. Is something wrong with my computer ot the Internet connection?

Are you able to browse other websites other than yahoo? If yes, then there is no problem with your internet connection. If going to mail.yahoo.com gives you a "page cannot be displayed" then there must be a route problem from your computer to yahoo's servers.

To test this, open a command prompt (Start>All Programs>Accesories).
Then type: ping mail.yahoo.com

It should give you something like:

Pinging login.lga1.b.yahoo.com [66.163.169.186] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 66.163.169.186: bytes=32 time=215ms TTL=55
Reply from 66.163.169.186: bytes=32 time=215ms TTL=54

If you got that, you just need to clear your cache and cookies. Also try to flush you DNS. From the command prompt, type:

ipconfig /flushdns

It should flush your DNS successfully. Then try opening a new command prompt and visit the site again.

However if your ping to mail.yahoo.com gives a "Request timed out" then there is a routing error and just have to report this to your service provider.

Please dont hesitate to ask me for further assistance if the above suggested solutions did not work. Thank you.

Yahoo mail page says internet explore canot display webpage

This means that you cannot connect to the website. Are you able to view other websites?

Try to test if your computer is able to connect by opening a command prompt and typing: ping mail.yahoo.com

It should give you a reply with an IP address if you can connect; but if not, it gives you a request timed out.

Try to clear your cache and cookies and flush your DNS as well. Open you command prompt and type

ipconfig /flushdns

Then try again browsing mail.yahoo.com

I cannot browse the internet with IE

Ok, could be quite simple or more complicated difficult to know at the moment
first its a good idea to check that you can actually connect to sites
if you can then its more likely a problem with explorer
click the start button, then click "run" when the dialouge box appears type "cmd"
A black window should appear type "ping google.com"
C:\Documents and Settings\Nick>ping google.com
Pinging google.com [72.14.207.99] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 72.14.207.99: bytes=32 time=95ms TTL=234
Reply from 72.14.207.99: bytes=32 time=93ms TTL=234
Reply from 72.14.207.99: bytes=32 time=98ms TTL=234

Ping statistics for 72.14.207.99:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 3, Lost = 1 (25% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 93ms, Maximum = 98ms, Average = 95ms
does this appear? Next it would help to know how you connect to the internet i,e wirless router? Which operating system do you use , vista , xp etc ? Which version of internet explore are you using? And also what updates did you install recently was it a service pack update if so was it sp1 or sp2 etc as there are some known issues with update and internet connectivity
see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/331906
Another potentialy simple soloution might be to to download another browser like "firefox" from another computer put it on a usb stick and the transfer to your pc, install firefox onto your pc and see if it allows you to connect to websites
http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/firefox/
good luck, would like to know how it turns out

IE unable to open web pages

The version of IE does not matter.

Click "START"
Click "RUN"
Enter 'cmd' and press ENTER.
Enter 'ping www.yahoo.com' and press ENTER.
Do you get output like:

Reply from 209.131.36.158: bytes=32 time=81ms TTL=56
Reply from 209.131.36.158: bytes=32 time=37ms TTL=56
Reply from 209.131.36.158: bytes=32 time=44ms TTL=56
Reply from 209.131.36.158: bytes=32 time=61ms TTL=56
Ping statistics for 209.131.36.158:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),

If so, then your Internet connection is working fine.
If not, then you have no Internet connection.

On internet explorer. Click Tools then internet options then connections then LAN settings. Make sure that only Automatic detect settings is checked and all the rest is not. Click ok all the way out and try again. If that does not work you may have malware on your computer

Go to www.malwarebytes.com download and install the free trial and make sure to run the full scan..

If this does not work please message me.
