I am having similar issues with my ps3. It seems like a GPU issue. I really hope someone out there has been able to fix this and can give folks like us INFORMATION on how to do it ourselves.

First, try a different TV. This will tell you if your dealing with a console issue or a TV issue. The sad truth is that 90% of the issues with your PS3 can't be handled at home. Now, if you had a soldering gun and a mother board schematic, it might be a different story. I'm not being wise, brah. But it's true. And without getting to look at your console and your TV, it's really, really hard to diagnose your issue. (By the way, the link you gave me was bad.)
Here's what I'll do: If you try a different TV and get back to me with the info. I give you my word that I will do my very best to solve your problem, Waiwah, OK?

Call 877-253-SONY and request an RMA for your ps3 system. Hopefully your 1 year warrenty has not expired or you bought the extended warrenty plan.

Display problems while playing Virtual Console games

If you are experiencing display issues (dim, blank or half-blank screen, ghosted image, etc.) with a Virtual Console game while using the Component Video Cable, please read the following:
Some Virtual Console games default to displaying 240 lines of video. Some HD TV's are unable to display a signal with only 240 lines. Try the steps below to set the Wii to output 480 lines of video, which may solve the problem:
  1. While on the Wii Channel Menu (main screen of the Wii), connect a Nunchuk to Wii Remote.
  2. Select the Virtual Console game from the Wii menu, then select "Start" to begin the game.
  3. When the game starts, press the Home button on the Wii Remote. (In many games, the music can be heard when the game starts.)
  4. Select "Operations Manual" from the Home menu.
  5. Press the Z + A + 2 Button simultaneously (the Z Button is on the Nunchuk). A sound will be heard if the button combination has been entered correctly.
  6. Close the Home menu. The game should now display correctly. Note: You will not have to do this the next time you play, as the Wii console will remember these settings.
If the Virtual Console game is still not displaying properly, but all other games work fine, please call 1-800-255-3700 so that we may assist you further.

My ps3 comes on alright, but it won't play games or movies

Hi

If it is a new connection you are setting up then check the Display settings for your PS3. You can check it by--

Go into setting, display setting and choose the cable type and then try to do the test. See this link for details--

Sony PS3 Display Settings

If the issue is not resolved then try using Component cables for the connection and check whether the PS3 works. If this works then connect the HDMI cable after the component cable is connected & then the PS3 will locate the cable. It'll then ask you whether you want to use the HDMI cable connection, select yes from there. And, if this doesn't resolve the issue then try connecting it with another TV or else this is a hardware issue with the PS3, not the TV. If it is less than 90 days old then you get it replaced and get a new one. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Trophy upload error

Hi,

There is a widespread issue occurring right across the board at this very moment with the PSN Network. Some PS3 Fat consoles are not synchronising trophies properly due to an internal clock error and this is causing this error to display.

Sony are aware of the problem and say they will have it resolved within 24 hours.

For a full breakdown on the issues involved please view this FixYa Tip.

If the solution helps, please leave a vote for it. Thanks.

Ds lite case repair

Ok i can tell you how to do this.

First of all you need to make sure you have a new shell and the tools needed for the job, listed below.

  1. NDS screwdriver - $9.99
  2. #00 screwdriver - $9.99
  3. small pair of adjustable pliers (for replacing case).
  4. Soldering Iron (required to replace top display screen or case)

image 1.

OK. Look at image 1 above. Remove all the screws circled.

if you need to access the top of the DS Look at Image 2 below & remove those screws.

Image 2.
878dd0c.jpg

*Tech NOTE * Be careful not to lose ur shoulder button shaft and springs (Image 3 circled in RED) they will come out on you.
Also you will see a small cable circled below in Blue (image 3) Only remove this if you absolutely have to, this connects your display touchpad to your motherboard and can be very difficult to reinstall.

Image 3
b9bb221.jpg

Their will also be a white cable (not in pic) this can be unplugged by lifting the little round connector with your fingernail; allowing you to pull it through the hinge.

If you unplug the Black cable and pull it loose, you will definitely have a difficult time getting it back underneath its socket. It's easier to desolder it from the board in the top case ( Image 4 in green)

Image 4
2d3137c.jpg

I know this is a lot, just bear with me we're almost done.

This next part you have to use EXTREME CAUTION

To unplug your display cables (image 5) you will have to very carefully lift the little black latch on the connector. You will have to use 2 fingernails, one on each side, to lift these off. IF you only lift from one side you will break the Black latch on the connector making the entire board - garbage! Same for reassembly - be wary pushing the latch back down. The top cable circled in Red is for the bottom display. The bottom one is for the top display. There will be a single screw holding the MotherBoard in place. Remove it and lift the MB out carefully.

*****************************************
IMAGE 6
0acd6f2.jpg

Above (image 6) is the Bottom display assembly. The 3 pieces are held together with adhesive. The display is on teh bottom, the Touchpad in the center, and the top is the protective shielding. They can be pried apart carefully using fingernails or a plastic tool (be very careful not to crack anything)

IMAGE 7- TOP DISPAY
13bd982.jpg

Image 7 is of the top display. Where you see the green circles is where the screw covers are located. use something very small to pry them out. Remove the 4 screws.

Hinge Removal - Image 8
25a9a36.jpg

Remove the two screws circled in Image 8 to get the hinge apart. If you are replacing your top display this will greatly help when you are trying to fit the cable back through the hinge hole. The Top can now be safely removed
**TECH NOTE**
Fitting your new cable through the hinge hole can be a bit frustrating. make sure you have separated the top & bottom cases to give yourself more working room. Remove the black and white wires, just out of the way. The cable will go into that thin slot a bit. When you reassemble it make sure to roll the end evenly from top to bottom first. This will help get it through the hole. Then put the round metal ring on afterwards, lastly put the wires through.

your speaker wires are soldered to your top display. To replace the case you will need to remove the wires to go through the hinge, and to replace the display you will have to remove them also (image 9)

Image 9
c9c9fd9.jpg

**Tech nOte**
when reassembling the top and bottom shell take note of the on / off button and the switch. Make sure you line the switch up with the button or you may break it***

Image 10
174dfb6.jpg

Image 10 - note the black wire that goes through the hinge. It is "jumped" (meaning it is connected to two places on the board, one next to the other)

Image 11

Image 11
The collar that fits inside the plastic case hole.

Image 12
be9f42a.jpg

Circled in green in image 12 is the angle adjuster. This is best installed with a small pair of adjustable pliers.

WOW... we're done!! As far as I can see this is a complete breakdown for anything you would need to fix. I hope this is a great help to you.

Please Rate highly if this helped you

White lines, images on screen turn funny colors, audio humming

Hi :)

I had small white dots appear on the dashboard screen, like static... I am using an HDMI connection.
Make sure that your cables are connected correctly...
Try going to the display settings and selecting the automatic setup for HDMI, that worked for me, it looks pefect now..

my problem is that discs are not loading(but that's a different issue)..

It might work the same way if you're not using HDMI.. just select your connection again, or change connection settings and back again. But make sure that you select the correct settings if you want it to display correctly.

I hope that helps, good luck.
