Question about Televison & Video
I have a 48 inch Toshiba rear projection TV, you know the kind with the 3 color guns.
I don't have the model number handy now.
Basically the problem is that the picture convergs in the corners, it doesn't fill the whole screen. and the lines especially at the corners are not straight but bent.
Sometimes it snaps in and fills the whole frame and it looks really nice. Sometimes I leave it on overnight so as to keep this nice "Full frame" picture. But after a while the picture sometimes disappears completely into Black, or it converges into a tiny opening surrounded by black.
When that happens I turn the TV off then on again, and usually I end up with the picture converged at the corners again (not a full frame picture).
I've checked all the solder connections for a cold solder joints and resoldered few of them that I thought didn't look good but I still have the same problem.
I am aware that this a common issue with these tv's.
Is there a way to fix this without spending too much money??
I am fairly handy and can fix many things.
Thank you for your time.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

SOURCE: Rear Projection TV convergence
dear friend if you have that type of skills you cerlainly can either resolder or replace the convergence stks. you we'll need to replace both if that's the case. they look like the audio outputs in the audio amplifiers. good luck

You can try to change it out and go to convergence adjustment mode on service mode to setup the template.
But I rather replace couple trans and leaky diode on your old convergence amp board to save my time

All convergence circuits require two voltages which are equal, one being positive the other negative. Check the power supply for these two voltages and then see if you're getting them at the output ICs. I suspect one of them is missing or low. If there are no cooked resistors near the ICs, inspect the fuses that protect those two voltage sources or the regulating devices themselves.
