Question about Microsoft Office 2003 Pro (269-07387) for PC

Word 2003 not printing text, but prints everything when a clip art is added

I don't even know how to search for a solution tho this problem. It's the craziest thing I have ever seen. I am running office 2003 with Windows XP pro. Excel, Powerpoint, Access... it all prints fine, but when I create a document in word it will not print it. It acts like it is printing then nothing on the page as if I were out of ink except there is ink. I can then insert a clip art into the document and the clip art and the words I typed all print out. I delete the clip art and try printing just the text and a blank page again. I can download a document someone else created on there computer in word 2003 and it prints like it is suppossed to. I work at a major university and no one has ever heard of anything remotely close. Has anyone ever seen this and do you know how to fix it?

No virus. Print setting are all default settings. The document will print from Word 2003 if it was created by someone else. If created on my system it will not print just text. If I insert a clip art then it prints everything. I delete the clip art and have only text remaining it prints nothing. Weird, weird, weird.

I have the same problem, it shows as if printing but does not print yet ok for graphics or items off the internet.
I have just changed over my printer as the Epson has made grinding noises and hooked up my old HP photosmart 7150. and that is when the problem started.
However I have been having "Word 2003" problems for a while, too many files open and the computer freezes and it seems as if there is another program in the background gobbling up memory, but have not been able to find any other programs running.
I have 2GB of RAM so ample for the times I have these freezes.
I suspect the Epson got around the print problem but the HP has yet to figure out the problem.
My next thought is to do a reinstall of 'Word'

I too have similar problems with Word 2003. I can print text from anyone else's word doc and text copied from the internet onto a word doc but I can't print text that I personally typed into my own document, including text written on my wordpad and notepad. I also can print my excel files. I have scanned my computer for viruses and it came out clean and also checked for spyware. I reinstalled my HP printer which did not help and checked for new drivers. in addition, I ran my word software through detect and repair and nothing was found.A few minutes ago I deleted all my temp files. Finally I had a computer repair person come and he is totally baffled too. if anyone could help solve this, I would be very grateful.

I have the same problem. The document does not print. I tried all the save options thinking that there may be an incompatibility with docs and no solution, yet. This is even weirder. I sent myself the doc to my yahoo. Clicked for printing of the doc that I cut and paste into a message. Bingo, BUT only 4 of the 6 pages printed as RichText. The two pages that did not print are 3 and 4 of the same document! Strange. Then I went back to perform the first steps of once again and now nothing prints. As if there is a program saying "no don't allow any more printing, hilarious, but inconvenient.

Word Document does not print. HP is functioning well. I believe there is an incompatibility with the word doc applications and the saving of the document which then goes to the printer.

I solved it! Aint no stopping me now!!!

This may not be a permanent solution, but it is one that will remedy the problem if you are caught in a bind!

Change the color of your document to the next color lighter than black but dark enough to print as black. Other colors do print.

Perhaps it is a problem with the black ink and/or cartridge.

My 6 page document printing normal with the exception that I changed it from the default black setting to the next lighter black color.

Now who will pay me for this tip? No charge, just kidding!

Hmm, nozzles are blocked. Try Isopropyl Alcohol on a cotton tip or better still, a rag piece and run under the print head.
If this doesn't help, maybe this video will -
Lastly, the printer should have come with a program that can clean the print heads.

it not only depends on the printer, but on the software you are using to do your text. if you are using office, you must choose orientation manually. If that doesn't work, and for example you are using word art, just leave the page as it is by default and rotate the text. Again, it all depends on the software you are using

I found out that it was some (vector) snowflakes we had in the art that had gradients that caused the printer to freeze.

We removed (in Adobe Illustrator® CS3) all of art work then replacing it on piece at a time, printing OK until we added the snowflakes. Turning the gradients into just halftones was our solution. The printer representative is going to give our printer a memory upgrade for free.
