I'm in Argentina and have bought a new chip that works in cell phones here but not my HTC touch. When I put the new sim into the device and switch the phone on it can't find a network. I have tried a soft and a hard reset but the phone just won't work. I can't even get to the phone options because the device won't recognize the sim, even though I know it works in another mobile device. Help! I can't call anyone.

Hi, i think your step not correct when entering HTC Thunderbolt unlock code. You must use your old sim card to unlock your phone, don't use new sim card before that phones completely unlocked. That's why your sim card not recognized. If this method not working maybe you get wrong HTC unlock code, since it's little rare for me. Usually if you bought unlock code reputable online store, they usually send unlock code with complete instruction how to insert that unlock code in your phones. The bottom line try my method and if not working get new code. Thanks.
NB: don't enter your wrong code to many times in your phones, it will caused your HTC to hard locked state and you can't use that phone even you put your old sim card.
you can check it with other sim card ,if it remains the same problem ,it
may be locked to particular network wont accept any sim card other than
the particular network ,you can unlock it and used to other network, try

If you mean the phone is unuseable, it may be blocked by the service provider and you would need a PUK code from them. If you mean that you have put your sim in and it doesn't work on the phone, the device may be locked to one service provider. In this instance you can get the phone unlocked at most phone shops for a small fee. Hope this helps.
