Which kind of computer!!!!
Download the appropriate driver for your DVD player . for to be very sure about what you are doing, right clic at my cpmuter , manage, then clic at device manager . When the list will display, check where you will see the question marks. That hardware will not be installed properly . In that way you will be asked to resinstall again that component.
but all this will depend of your software, windows95 2000,.
if you are not try to provide more information about brand, model of your computer the operating system you use , brand and model of your DVD player. and also what you want really do.

Computer can not read install disc

When using the disc containing a computer operating system it is often necessary to change the boot sequence in the computer bios. If the dvd drive isn't first on the list it will be bypassed if there is already stuff on the hard drive.

Wise to test the disc on another computer.and if found to be good then suspect your dvd drive. Disconnect the drive and start the computer and then reconnect and restart. If it still doesn't work try another dvd drive.

My LG Slim portable DVD writer GP50 keeps failing to install on my new Asus laptop. It connects, turns on, takes the DVD for installation, loads, and then just says it failed every time.

I was ready to write an absolutely scathing review of this product at first...BUT I have since changed my mind.

I purchased a new laptop several weeks ago and did not realize that the new laptop did not come with an internal disc reader. major boo. I also did not realize that the new laptop was not compatible with my existing printer, it required a wireless enabled printer. another boo. So I knew i needed a disc reader so I started researching and came across this model. For the price and claimed ability, I figured it would work well for my needs and purchased it.

It arrived in a timely manner and I was eager to install it and start using it...that's where the trouble began. I am a fan of following instructions since ultimately it saves time and prevents you from having to go back and read the instructions anyway. I made a smart preemptive move and bought the USB Y cable for external devices just in case I needed the extra power (highly recommend this, especially since I only paid $1.99 for the cable). I plugged the drive in and inserted the installation software and waited...and waited...and waited. My computer recognized the device and was attempting to install the software but was getting stuck in the death loop that everyone else with a windows 8.1 OS has mentioned. I attempted the installation for over 2 hours with continuous failed results. by this time I was outraged. I had tried to search for a driver for the device online on EVERY site and self-help forum I could find with NO luck. I was ready to pack the device back up and return it to the seller first thing monday morning. I, being righteously upset, decided to post a rant on facebook that one of my friends saw. She has a sister who is an IT geek (said in a loving manner) who wanted to see if she could take a look at it and try to help.

Long story short, if you are stuck in the installation death loop, try plugging the USB cable into each different port on your computer and trying it again. Also, try alternating on each port with the USB cable provided with the product and with the USB Y cable that I HIGHLY recommend getting. I was able to get my device installed on the second try with switching ports. Fair warning, when it DOES eventually install, there are some extra programs available that take some time to load and in my opinion for what i need this product for are useless to me but will undoubtedly be useful for someone else. DONT GIVE UP!!! This product will install eventually.

I moved from the US to Egypt. When I try to play

Hello!

Please refer to the article given below to know about the DVD region code.
http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/documentLink.do?externalId=C125695

In order to play DVDs of any particular region that is not currently supported by the DVD Drive installed in the Computer, you may change the region code. However, the region code for the DVD Drive installed in the Computer can only be changed maximum for four times. After fourth time, attempting to change the region code will fail and service will be required to change the region code.

You may follow the steps given in the article through the link below to change the region code of the DVD drive installed in the Computer.

http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/documentLink.do?externalId=C171033

Furthermore, you can reduce the display resolution of the Computer display by going to the display properties.

"disk error" occurs when disk is inserted

the drive cannot read data from the disk, follow these instutions:
if you are using vista, right click on "computer" then select "manage" then select "device manager". look down the list until you find CD/DVD and click on the + icon next to it, then right click on the CD/DVD and select un-install (make sure that there is a disk in the drive, preferably a movie or music CD) then restart the computer, when the computer restarts vista will detect the drive and install the drivers again, look in computer to see if the disk has been recognised

let us know how you get on

Viewing a recorded DVD+R on PC

I am assuming you have an actual dvd drive of some sort installed in your computer. The problem you may be having is a missing codec. This problem can be solved by downloading a VLC player which has most needed codecs pre installed. This program is freeware and can be easily found online. I hope this helps. Good Luck!
