1. why is a green light flashing all the time where it indicates red when a message is waiting.
2. also down loaded a new ring tone and it says to retrieve it from "my stuff" and i cant find where that is any where on the phone.

To answer your first question, the green flashing light is the coverage indicator. It will flash green when you have a wireless signal. If you want to disable that then go to Options > Screen/Keyboard and then set the LED Coverage Indicator option to Off.
I dont know about number one. however for number two, did you try looking under media under ringtones? did you also know you can just transfer music from your computer to your phone and use that as a ringtone for free.
