I have the same problem. The pointer on the black cartridge turn green to black which means the cartridge is empty. Then I changed only the black cartridge with an original one. After that I tried to print a colored image on my plotter but the mode is automatically selected "MONO" when I pressed the "COLOR" "Install Color Cartridges" message appers on screen. Please help me!

Clean the copper colored flex contacts in the carriage where you install the cartridges. my guess is they probably have ink buildup. spray windex on a paper towel or q-tips and wipe those contacts until clean. reseat cartridges. Good Luck!

Check if the cartridge was inserted correctly (right slot) (remove it and insert it again)
Check if the cartridge is original and the sticker was removed. Turn off your computer, and your printer. Start up your computer and after your printer. Try again.

If the problem continues, insert the old one cartridge (which was removed before) and see what happen...

If stop asking for install color cartridge, you have failure on your new cartridge
and need to be replaced.

Can it (HP deskjet F380 all in one) still print with only color cartridge or only black cartridge ? Or Should two cartridges remain together to print even one is empty ? Thanks

the answer to your question is yes,it can still print with only one cartridge installed.
If you do not have a replacement cartridge, and the quality of your printouts is not a concern, you can still print in ink-backup mode. Consider the following guidelines before printing in ink-backup mode:

  • If you remove the tri-color cartridge, printouts will be in grayscale.
  • If you remove the black or photo cartridge, the product will print more slowly and the colors in the printouts will vary.
press OK button to clear the error message like cartridge missing after removing one cartridge.

I own a canon iP1300 printer and just bought a new canon pg- 40 black cartridge but its not being recognized by the printer, wat do i do

Can be a problem regarding the cartridge. What is the status of the color cartridge. Take a printout with the color cartridge alone. If no problem found get your PG40 cartridge replaced. One thing to be noted is that the printer always needs the color cartridge installed. Printer can work with color cartridge alone. But will not work without a color cartridge

Printer : canon pixma ip1600 problem: i just changed a new colour cartridge. existing black cartridge is still working. when i print out a colour picture using my laptop with windows 7, the printout is...

this is due to the color management for winXP and win7 are different.. you can try to download the printer driver add on for win 7.. else you will have to install manually the color management.
the add on can be downloaded below..

My HP 1000 Photo Smart is not printing in color. The film has been removed from the new cartridge, the printout shows color, grayscale is not checked Where else do I need to check

I have to ask this question of you, just to make sure this is not an issue. Are you using a factory new ink or toner cartridge?
Please consider the following:
If you are using a refilled (the absolute worst possible choice) or third party cartridges (2nd. Worst possible choice) that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks or toner causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead or photo conductors.
If you are using factory new ink or toner cartridges, then please call the manufacturer’s Technical Support for assistance with the warranty on the cartridges

Copier states to ''insert color cartridge''

When you installed the new cartridges, did it ask or display if you "installed a new ink cartridge" press the ok botton to rest the cartridge back to new. Then it will ask you to aline the cartridge and it will print a test print and ask you to place the print out on the glass. Do the same for the next cartridge..... I have one question, is this a new problem with the new cartridges????

DCP-130C COLOR INKJET

When inserting a new cartridge, you may receive a prompt

"The installed ink cartridge differs from the original ink cartridge for the printer. Your printouts may be different from those printed using original ink cartridges. Do you want to continue using the currently installed ink cartridge?"

If you click Yes, printing will continue. If you select No, you will be prompted to change the cartridge. Manufacturer prompts may vary.

the support of both the cartridges is required to get a printout in this printer so if it is showing empty get it refilled properly to start printing again or buy new one.

Color problem

Chances are your othe cartridges were low...

When you install a new cartridge your printer does a head cleaning, and it uses alot of ink...

If the others were low, your printouts will show magenta as its the only color left...
