I have a set Motorola Canopy 2400BH but i forgot ip address and username and password, how can i access it for using.

You need to user an Override Plug, which can be fabricated this way:

To fabricate an override plug: 1. Install an RJ-11 6-pin connector onto a 6-inch length of CAT 5 cable. 2. Pin out all 6-pins. 3. Short (solder together) Pins 4 and 6 on the other end. Do not connect any other wires to anything. The result should be as follows: Pin 1 ? white / orange ? Pin 1 Pin 2 ? white / green ? Pin 2 Pin 3 ? white / blue ? Pin 3 Pin 4 ? green ? Pin 6 Pin 5 ? blue ? Pin 5
Regaining access to the module To use the override plug 1. Insert the override plug into the RJ-11 GPS sync port of the AP. 2. Apply power to the module through the Ethernet cable. RESULT: The module reboots with the default IP address of 169.254.1.1, password fields blank, and all other configuration values as previously set. 3. Set passwords as desired. 4. Change configuration values if desired. 5. Save the settings. 6. Remove the override plug. 7. Power cycle the module.

Factory Default Motorolla Canopy 900mhz. AP

all you need is a phone cord (that you dont want to use anymore) just ground the number 4 and 6 wire together and leave the rest alone. plug it in the canopy and then power it on. It should then be at the default ip. I think its 169.254.1.1 or 192.168.100.1.

Not connecting to internet

Hi,

When you power down the canopy, what happens is you also do a hard reset which from your post re-establish the connection.

One of the many possible causes is that the canopy is loosing its DHCP lease on its assigned IP add. This may be a security feature/measure of your ISP limiting assigned IP add through a DHCP server for only a couple of hours to clients such as yourself. If this is the case then you have to bring this to the attention of your provider;

Another that you can try is to telnet to the canopy interface and check its settings. Its IP add is 169.254.1.1(255.255.0.0). Newer versions uses the 10.X.X.X (255.0.0.0) series, pls check which one you have.

Alternately, what can be done is to do a soft reset (not powering down/hard reset). Right click on your Networking icon in the System Tray and click on "Repair".

Other areas you can check/try are your router settings (if you are using one), settings of HTTP1.1 through proxy connections in IE, fix DNS (you can get them from your ISP). If you are using XP, there is also a registry tweak for DNS errors resulting to no connection (winxp_dnscache.zip).

Hope that this be of some help/idea. Pls post back should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

SIGNAL PROBLEM

the radio has had an internal breakdown, possibly a transmitter or receiver failure. The only thing to do would be to replace or repair the unit. How old is it, as it may be under Motorola warranty if its less than a year. If it's not, you could contact Motorola support, and find out if they offer "flat rate" repair.....I know they do this for all of their 2 way radios and pagers, and the cost for repair is usually around 1/4 of new pricing. If you do get in touch with Motorola support, and have the unit's serial number handy, they will be able to tell you if its still under warranty. 1 888-605-2552 is the support number for Motorola canopy. They would be able to tell you if Flat rate repairs are available, and where to send the unit.
