Never a good signal with AT&T but plenty of excuses and misstruths from Customer Service... Can I do anything to make it work now with Cingular such as unlocking it? And will it raise the bar on my cignal?

I think a device upgrade would make things a bit easier for you?

Unlocking the phone for Cingular won't help you. The GU87 is a triband World phone, with operating frequencies of 900/1800/1900. AT&T/Cingular operates on 850 (800 officially)/1900. The phone only supports half of the network, so it becomes useless. I would only recommend a 1900 only phone if you're absolutely positive you have 1900 coverage everywhere you need the device to work, otherwise get a 850/1900 dual band device.
