are you sure its C-media AC'97? Realtek also has 'AC97 drivers! code 10 means that, as you know, the device cannot start...drivers are incompatible with OS go www.testmyhardware.com and dnload the free app..it will poll your system and tell you what kind of sound card it is www.aa1consuling.com
There are two variations of that driver, AC97 or AC97 HD, both are available from the Realtek website.

You should be able to use the AC97 codecs available from Realtek for your device. There is a choice of two - standard AC97 or AC97 HD (both are available from the link provided), one of these should be compatible.
