Question about NorStar M7310 Corded Phone

Cannot Enter Configuration Mode on M7310

Hello,
Here is my issue.  I am trying to change the display names for extensions at my office, however it am not able to log-in to the **CONFIG feature.  All the posts on here (and the manual) make reference to simply using a password for 266344 or 23646, however the phone is asking for a User ID before the password.  I am just replacing the old executive assistant who recently left and did not share the wealth of how to operate the phone system - and now we are all SOL.
Please help!

    Its a BCM 50 system.

  • bm_shepitka Sep 25, 2008

Ok, thanks so much.  I found the "nnadmin" username in some documentation that was left by the former exec. assistant - but no password.  I've tried it with both the 23464 and 266344 passwords to no avail.

    I suspected that :-)

There's another layer of security and I don't happen to have that password at my fingertips. If I find it in my paperwork I'll let you know. Perhaps someone else will help out.

What is the cabinet on the wall? BCM-s have a second level of passwords. A BCM 50 is about the size of a Call Pilot which is really tiny and flat with a red and green light on the face of it. A CICS is about 18" high 12" wide and 8" deep and says, IIRC, Integrated Communications System on the upper right side.

O.K. I'll take a chance. The mnemonic I used to remember the password is either going to work or not.

Try CATMOB. I am sure it starts with 228xxx and I remember something about the cat when she's hungry.....

If it works thank Sandy the Cat.

Phone not ringing in normal mode

I believe this is a programming issue.

To change the ringing assignments on extensions enter programming mode by pressing Feature **266344 and password 266344 if it hasn't been changed. You have to do this from an M7310 phone. The top two buttons on each side will move you through programming. The top right button is the SHOW button and the button below it is the NEXT button. The top left button is the HEADER button and the button below it is the BACK button.

Your first category should be TERMINALS & SETS. Press the SHOW button and using the dial pad enter the extension number. The display should show the extension number or name. Press SHOW three times and the display should show LINE ___.
With options to SCAN or LIST. Pressing SCAN will show the lines assigned to the extension. Use the CHNG option to change how the line is on the phone. RING ONLY - UNASSIGNED - APPEAR ONLY - AND APPEAR & RING. Change the lines you want to ring in NORMAL DAY MODE to APPEAR & RING for this extension and press SCAN to move to the next assigned line. Use this same method for any extension you want to change the ringing on.
