You might still be in the record mode. Try switching to playback mode.

End tape means that you have recorded the full 60 standard play or 90 minutes long play and you should rewind the tape or eject it.

I have a JVC camcorder (GR-D750U) that takes mini-DV tapes. Recently it started skipping on playback or cutting out. It is also making a mechanical noise. If fast forward in play mode it is amplified. ...

This is usually caused by an oxidized, misaligned or defective Audio/Video drum. You can try running a cleaning tape through the camera. If this does not solve the problem the camera will need to be serviced by a qualified service technician.

My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. JVC GR-D33U won't play back some tapes

The tape cleaning won't help this problem, it is alignment on tape guide and back tension, like you mentioned it had been service before after they fixed the lens cap issue, usually they connected to computer to adjusted may be they missed. So I sugges you to bring it back to them if it is still under warranty or direct to JVC and take the old tape, ask them to try it after they align this unit, DO NOT use tape cleaning again because you can see picture on the new recorded
that mean the video head is good
I hope that give you some ideas

No playback on JVC GR-D72

It souunds like the problem is in the Vid-PC connection. I suggest you start by downloading the latest version of whatever software you have used to capture and view.

Also - uninstall any hardware in the PC that is used to capture (just remove from system device list) and then restart the PC and let it detect and re-install.

If you don't know how to do these steps, then you'll need geek help.

Black or blank screen

your older recordings will only play on a pal monitor / tv ; if the camera video is ok now ? your tape heads may be dirty , wearing out - or both ; try a cleaning tape first but - do not rewind cleaning cassettes , or the old grime will be put back on the cleaned heads and guides ;
