Question about Cameras

1 Answer

WE have a Olympus Stylus 820 which is new. On our trip overseas, when deleting on picture, all pictures erased on the disc except 3 for an unknown reason. We want to find a way to recover the pictures taken that were on the disc and now not visable through the camera. Can you help us? Drew

See page 10 of the manual: http://www.olympusamerica.com/files/oima_cckb/FE-280_X-820_C-520_Instruction_Manual_EN.pdf

If you want to delete all your pictures, see "MEMORY FORMAT" on page 26.

When I try to delete a picture/video it says WRITE PROTECT with a ! point

Hi there, Can you take pictures on it? It sounds like the SD card is locked. If you take the SD card out, you should see a slider on one of the sides. Push it up to unlock the card - then you should be able to delete. If it is already up, then there is a write protect option on your camera you need to disable. Alex

Grainy pictures...iso problem for olympus stylus 820

Without ISO you will not be able to take pictures.
ISO is the old ASA which is related to film speed
ISO 50 is very slow film speed and may result in blur and some grainy appearance , same as if you PUSHED ISO up to 800 in low light.

Try setting it to ISO 100 and see if that helps.

You can still select auto, but its related to either shutter or aperture priority in relation to the set film speed ( now ISO 100)

Have you formatted the card in the camera before trying to use it? (download any pictures still on the card using a card reader if necessary).

Zooming with Olympus Stylus 820

Hey missy0528,
There are a few reasons your images might be grainy, one of which is your image quality is set to low. I would always have the camera set to the highest resolution possible, because you can always reduce the size of an image but you can never make it bigger. Another cause of grainy images in digital cameras is the sensitivity of the camera (ISO) is set to high. Since you are only seeing grainy images when you use the zoom the reason for the grainy images is most likely do to using the digital zoom. All a digital zoom does is crop the image much as you can do in some computer applications, and by doing this you greatly reduce your image quality. I would never use a digital zoom. Your camera has a 5x optical zoom and a 5.6x digital zoom. I would only use the optical zoom. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan
