m/b says vc37gv but layout is different to the pic. Can't see a 20 pin connector (apart from the main m/b power connector) 3 plugs from front panel disconnected pwr sw, pwr led, and hdd led. should they connect to the 10 pin (9) connector near the battery ? Can you advise which pins?

Solved my own problem - on close inspection theres an "f panel" marking on the bottom edge of the m/b (next to the battery and the jumper). There's a 10 pin connector (9used) The middle two pins are the power sw pins- I will determine the HDD and PWR LED's - by default they are either the bottom pair of pins or the next pair of pins up. Reason for having the cover off was changing the PSU which blew up - fitted a 450 watt psu from novatech and so far m/b seems to be working

To get the manual you have to go to the maufacturer website. But if you take a look on the motherboard (front view already installed) at the right corner on the bottom you will see a chip with 20 pins. with a mark JCPANEL 1 - If you see in detail you will see the chart of each connector below the pins (Power SW - ResetSW- HDDLEd, H+ H- Speaker)

Motherboard User Manual For SiS965L?

SiS965L is a chipset designation, not a motherboard model number. That said, most motherboards do label the header pins for the front panel connections on the motherboard, though they are a bit small and sometimes are not adjacent to the pins themselves. The Power Switch and Reset Switch pins are not polarized, and when you determine which they are, the connector plug can be installed on them either way. The Power LED and HDD LEDs ARE polarized. The positive pin is marked with a "+" sign and the Green wore of the Power LED and the Red wire of the HDD LED must be on the "+" terminal.

Hi:
To solve your puzzle, you need to find the manual for your motherboard. If you don't have it still, almost all of them are available online at the manufacturer's support website. The manual always has the pin out diagram for the motherboard, and from there its just a matter of plugging the small connections together. Remember that connections for LED lights have polarity, meaning that they need hooked up one particular direction for the light to work, but any switch connection doesnt matter.

Hope this helps

Pulled off front cover. three sets of wires came off. need to know where to reconnect. white/red wire HDD LED, white/green wire POWER LED, white/black wire POWER SW

Hi. You may want to check your motherboard for this wires to connect to, First, check your motherboards manual and look where the FRONT PANEL is located, then on the front panel or in the manual itself it will tell you where are those wires should be connected to. If you dont have the manual for your motherboard search it on google and do the same, and if still you coudnt find it over the internet then just look closely on your motherboard and look for the words HDD LED, POWER LED and POWER SW, usually those words or the FRONT PANEL is located on the left side bottom part of your motherboard. Hope This Helps

check your motherboard manual if you do not have it go to www.support.hp.com and look for manuals based on the model. this should give you detailed instructions as to which pins you plug those cables into. usually they are located towards the bottom of the motherboard to the right of your PCI Expansion slots

Part Number There are literally millions if not billions of different part numbers used by companies today. Because of the vast quantity of part numbers and the frequency of those numbers getting changed or referenced to other numbers, Computer Hope is unable to offer its customers with third-party part numbers.
If you are looking for a part number we recommend that you contact the computer company or the company responsible for supporting your product. You can find a listing of companies and their contact information on our company listing.
If the company responsible for your product is no longer in business we recommend the below.
  • If you do not have any numbers, but have the product or part you wish to replace, ensure that no numbers are listed on that part. If a number or name of company is listed on the product see the next section. However, if no number can be located we recommend you take the product to a local service center, repair shop, or the place of purchase for additional assistance.
  • If you are able to locate a number, attempt to search the Internet with a large search engine for that number. If you are unable to locate that number we recommend you take the product to a local service center, repair shop, or the place of purchase for additional assistance.
  • If you are only able to locate the name of the company who made the product, attempt to contact that company directly to see if they can provide you with a replacement. See our company listing for contact information.

Serial Numbers Unfortunately, with the billions of different serial numbers and manufacturer numbers, contact the manufacturer of the product or look for information about the product on Computer Hope by searching by the manufacturer or type of device name. For example, instead of searching for "Serial Number 12345" it may be easier to search for "Maxtor hard drive".
If you are looking for a serial number for a particular software program you will need to contact the software developer or producer of the software program; Computer Hope will not provide any type of serial numbers or other registration numbers to any users. See our underground section for additional information to why Computer Hope does not provide this information.
Finally, a serial number for a hardware device such as a computer or printer can almost always be found on the bottom or back of the device. If you're trying to find the serial number for one of these devices try physically examining the device. If you're still having issues locating it the contact the manufacturer .
Missing or lost CD, disk, or install file If you've lost one or more of your installation CD's or diskettes you must contact the developer of that program to obtain a new copy. Computer Hope cannot send anyone copies of the disks or downloadable files over the Internet of the program regardless if you have purchased the program.
