Question about HP Compaq Presario V5000Z Notebook
I need to replace a Compaq Presario V5000 laptop keyboard with a new one. My younger brother messed up the keys and with one of the arrow keys he tried to GLUE it back together hahahaha.
I know how to remove the keyboard itself, but does anyone know how to take out the facing part that holds it in place?
You need a flat bladded thin screw driver to prise off the long cover
the runs along the top of the keyboard and just below the screen. Make
sure you remove any screws at the back of the screen hinges, and along
the top above the battery housing (you need a small posidrive
screwdriver for this). You will find there is a screw on the underside
of the laptop that holds the keyboard in place from underneath, plus
two or three very small screws on the top at the screen end. When all
the screws are removed you can lift the keyboard up from the screen end
and pull (gently) away from the touch-pad end. Tilt it up and you will
see the keyboard data ribbon, don't twist it or pull it as you will
hope this helps
