Powerpoint slide master background fix needed

I have a presentation that has some slides with no background and some with a bad background I want to eliminate - but I cannot do it.

Every time I create or paste a new slide - it takes on this bad background - though many older slides do not have it. . .

Can you walk me through fixing it - or fix it for me.. .??

Thank you.

HOW DO I LOOP A SOUND FILE TO KEEP PLAYING TO THE END OF THE SLIDES WITHOUT EXTENDING THE TIME OF EACH SLIDE?

1) File > New > Presentation > Create (new presentation with all default settings)
2) Panel at right: Slide Transition > Modify Transition > Sound = "apert" (fourth in the drop down list)
You should hear a short (~2s) sound at this point, as the effect is "previewed". If you don't hear it, try the "Play" button at the bottom of the Slide Transition panel. If that doesn't work, then OOo is not able to play sounds and you have to fix that before proceeding.
3) Slide Transition > Modify Transition > Sound = "Other sound" > (select your long music file).
You may or may not hear the preview for this, it depends on whether your music file has a quiet leader at the beginning. If the audio starts right away, you should hear it. If the audio starts after 1-2s of silence, you won't hear anything.
4) Click "Slide show" (bottom of the Slide Transition panel) or F5.
You should hear the music start. It will continue to play even after you advance to the next slide (which is the black "End of show" screen. Advance again to end the show and the music should stop.

Instead of specifying a certain number of seconds for each slide, is there anyway that I could advance to the next slide manually by using a mouse click? I have to lecture on each slide and I don't...

Dear,
May I suggest you use OpenOffice Impress for your presentation?
It's free and you can easily adjust it for advancing slides on a mouse click.
You can download it here.

How to delete someone using Adobe Photoshop CS3?

It will depend on the background as to how easy or hard this will be.

Read the help files on using the Cloning Stamp.

First I would cut out the person(s) directly adjacent to the person you want to remove (take your time to get this done accurately - enlarge the view to say 300% - note that you can do sections at a time and ADD to the selections until you have all of the people you want - you only need to do this along the edges of the area that you want to erase the person from - COPY the selection, do not CUT the selection).

Paste this back as a new layer. Slide this to one side.

The reason for doing this is to make the next step easier without having to worry about working up to an edge.

Now working with the background layer:

If the background is easy - use 100%, then blend in by selecting another cloning area of a similar background and use it sparingly at say 25% to make the new area look different from the original cloning area. I would just remove "noticeable" objects - possibly by just selecting a spot and clicking once (doing this as many times as you need to.

If the bacground is difficult - you will need to "construct" the background using the Clone Stamp - for instance, if there is a tree branch that needs to be extended through the new area - you may have to carefully clone it bit by bit until it looks right - don't forget to clone from different areas if the background is trees as trees do not tend to have long straight branches.

When you have done all of this, go back to Layer 1 (the new one you created earlier) and slide this back into position.

Under Layers in the Menu Bar - defringe the image (layer 1) - this will blend it back in better (experiment with the number of pixels). Then flatten the image.

Need to change backgroud color of photo

This really depends on what the background looks like. In all of these cases, however, a good tip is to copy the background layer so that you have a duplicate layer to work upon. This way you can always mask off some of the top layer if you go too far, or mess up too badly, without losing all your work.

That being said, the first step is to select the background. You might try to start with the magic wand if the background is easy to tell from the foreground. Make sure to check/uncheck "Contiguous" if all of the background pieces are or are touching. Also adjust the sensivity of the majik wand (it goes from 0 to 255. 255 is going to select everything, so I'd start with a tolerance of maybe 50 and go from there.)

If the background tends to merge seamlessly, you can try to select the background with the Lasso tool. Just start draggine the lasso tool along the background that you will want to change. You can take it in small chunks as long as you hold down the "shift" key when you start your next selection.

Once you have the background of the photo selected, a good idea is often to make the selection just a little bit blurry so that when you change the color the borders won't be too abrubt which tends to look a bit jarring and unreal.

A good way to do this is "feathering" the selection by 5 or 10 pixels (depending on the size and resolution of your photo).

To do this SELECT>FEATHER and choose between 5 or 10 as your feather radius.

Then on to the final step, changing the color of the background.

I'd tend to use IMAGE>ADJUST>HUE/SATURATION.

Once you have the Hue/Saturation dialog box up, click on the "colorize" button and make sure the "preview" button is also checked.

I usually start by increasing the "saturation" slider, this allows more color into the selection, and enables you to see the effects of the top slider, "Hue"

Slide the "Hue" slider until you get the approximate color you want the background of the photo to be. You can then use the middle slider to add more or less of that hue, and the bottom slider to adjust the lightness and darkeness.

Hope this helped,

Philip

I use Gadwin PrintScreen (Free version) and tweak it to capture any size rectangle that you draw on the screen.
To tweak, right click on the Systray icon. Select properties, then select Source, put a dot in the "Rectangular Area".
I have even used it for movie type files, just stop the motion where you want to, and run the Gadwin.
