You can order the disks from the manufacturer or you can try to use the system restore in windows if you are using ME or a newer version.

If you have lost the restore disc you may need to buy the Restore disc from the Toshiba website. Please visit the following link, enter your laptops serial number and check if a restore disc can be purchased online. If not, you have to take it to the Toshiba service center to get the system restored to factory settings

Restore to factory settings

If you received a CD/DVD with your computer that says "Operating System Disc" or something similar, you can put that in the drive and run the reinstall sequence.

If you did not get a disc like that with your computer or you lost it, you can probably call the manufacturer. Otherwise you can get a new version of Windows from wherever you would like and install it. The installation process typically clears everything out.

I would like to figure out how to format my hard drive. I have viruses on there, and it won't let me delete them, or run ANYTHING on my computer.

Hi,

Dell pcs manufactured before september 2004 will need a recovery disc to restore it to the factory settings..
In case the computer was bought after 2004 there is a factory image saved in the hard disc.
As soon as you turn the computer on press CTRL+F11 KEY together or CTRL+F12 KEY together.
You will get a screen to do a factory restore.
NOTE-ALL DATA WILL BE LOST IF YOU DO THE ABOVE MENTIONED STEPS BUT THE COMPUTER WILL BE NEW AGAIN.

If the above mentioned steps don't work or the computer is older that sept 2004 you will need a WINDOWS Operating system disc depending on your operating system Eg-xp,vista,win7 or you can also use a recovery disc which is usually provided by the manufacturer which is DELL

Hope this will fix your problem. If not please reply

Thanks and regards

Definitely the recovery disc will fix it since it will restore your system into its factory defaults, but yes, it will erase everything out of your computer.

I've lost the recovery disc for my toshiba sattelite p200-143, how do i restore it bk to factory settings without it

You can go to help and type 'recovery' to link into the 'recovery' console and go from there. It will, with the proper administrator password, go back to the original settings and everything from the day you bought or acquired your computer.

They actually recommend 'restore' to an earlier date, before you do the more radical recovery.

Hope this helps!

How do i restore factory settings to my packard bell desktop

If you want to restore your computer to factory settings, and you dont mind losing your files, you will need to get the cd recovery disc, put it in the cd-rom drive and reboot your computer. it will start the process from there.

beware, it will erase everything that currently is on there and when finished bring the computer to the original factory settings.

I have a loptop of Acer Aspire5520.I have to formate now but i lost my system backup & restore disk. How can i get this backup.Pls let me know.

Normally , acer laptops have a hidden recovery partition on the hard drive , which contains all of the recovery data so you dont need the recovery discs.

When you boot up your computer and you get the Acer logo etc , try pressing keys to start the recovery - this puts everything back to factory default settings and erases your data.

Also , A program ships with the laptop called 'Acer Empowering Technology - eRecovery' which allows you to burn your own recovery disc - You then use this disc to perform a complete system restore.

Restore backup files

You should have everything saved ("backed up") on dvds now. Your next step is to pop in the restore discs that came with the computer unless you have a vista machine that isn't a toshiba or dell because vista machines (like HP) makes you create your own.

pop in your disc, boot to cd, and press next a few times... it will delete everything and get the pc back to the first day you bought it.
