Question about GE JS905SKSS Stainless Steel Electric Kitchen Range

GE stainless steel glass cooktop slide in range-control knob decals coming off

I've had this range for a little over two years. The heat level directions that surround each control knob are coming off and fast! I just wipe the range down, use no abrasives-don't want to scratch the stainless steel. Purchased extended warranty through Sears. When the tech came out to address this and another issue, he informed me that he sees this problem quite a bit and that it is "cosmetic" and thus not covered. I e-mailed Sears right away along with GE. To date, both entities stand behind it being cosmetic. I take issue with that! How do they expect people to operate this range when the decals finally come off? I do most of the cooking and would remember but what if someone who is not familiar with the range use it? Do they get it by osmosis or the the Psychic Network? I feel this is an engineering flaw and a safety issue. Anybody else have this problem?

    I have the same problem. I'm not sure what caused the decals to come off. I don't use any abrasive cleaners. Any way to have this fixed and get new labels/decals?

    I have had the same problem with a GE Profile Gas Cooktop JGP945SEKSS where the lettering has worn off. I call GE parts and Customer Service; but their only solution was for me to order a whole new cooktop surface discounted to about $150. Not much of a solution and in my opinion, poor customer service. This sound like a broader problem that GE has no interest in addressing. I'll buy futute products from another manufacturer in the future.

If you call ge and ask for consumer affairs.
tell them you are going to remodel your kitchen an you picked out all the ge monogram appliances and have the loan money set aside and ready!
Nut you will not make the purchase until they send you a set of ner stickers to remedy your new stoves old problem.
Be nice and sweet and calm. Get everyone to spell their names to you, even if you know them already!
If someone does not give you the answer you want ask (Nicely for the supervisor, and then for his supervisor, and so on!
They do more than that for people who's warranty is over .
I've had them call me to swap out some ones fridge on many occasions.
I' pretty sure I can get you the stickers and have GE mail them to you!
Mean while if you do not succeed
Then send me the info.
The exact model # with all the letters and numbers completely
And serial #
And your name, address, tel # zip code and the date you bought it
And I will get you the parts for free!

    Hi Neil, I have the same problem. I tried your suggestion of calling consumer affairs. I finally reached a supervisor who refused to put me on the line with her manager, and will only offer to sell me the part at a discounted price. Their retail on the part is $545, and they will sell it to me for $140. I have serious issues with a french door ge refrigerator, and they will only give me half off parts and labor or money off a new one. Their customer service is abysmal. Do you think you might be able to help me?

    Hi Neil, I am experiencing the same issues that some of the other readers have mentioned. My appliances are a little older than some listed but I still feel I paid a lot of money for a "top of the line" appliance that obviously has a design issue. I was told to replace the surfaces ($600 discounted) & only use warm soapy water or vinegar & water. Excuse me, but doesn't soap have some chemical component to it & vinegar is acidic. I find it hard to believe that in time the results would be the same on the replacement surfaces. Thanks for the information about the stickers. This info was never mentioned in my call. I hope that my next call will have a different outcome.

Where can I get a heat resistance double sided tape to affix the external glass of the oven to the SS frame on my slide in GE stove .

Most of the time that GE attaches any type glass to hot metal these days they use silicone seal. It is uses to attach glass cooktops into the metal frame of the cooktop. Get a tube of GE clear silicone seal and glue the glass around the complete edge getting a good seal and contact at the glass edge and metal panel. Let it dry 24 hrs before reassemble. The silicone seal turns to rubber when dry and is quite heat resistant. It won't stand up to direct flame but should hold your glass well.

I just spoke to GE about this, NO, they DONT have decals, instead they want you to replace the whole Cooktop piece for $300 +...
Am so annoyed.
All my neighbors who have the same appliances put in by the builder are having the same issues. It's a GE problem.

This is obviously a GE problem , i live in a neighborhood of recently constructed homes, all of which have the same GE appliances, and all my neighbors are having the same issues.

Stove top radiant heat burners don't regulate properly

We also have the same problem with the JS968SOK1SS and it is driving the wife crazy since it ruins many recipes that call for even heat.
As she said "It is crazy her electric skillet regulates heat better than her GE range"
I've been telling her Gas is the way. Has anyone found a solution to this problem or is that to be expected of Electric ranges?

I have the same problem. The previous suggestions are assanine and have Cleary not actually read the question. The question is how to replace the original heat numbers that rubbed off.
