There may be more than one way to interconnect the two and it sounds like you are using S-Video right now. This is a slightly higher quality than other paths can deliver but does not carry any audio information at all. If this is your case, you will have to use the red (right channel) and white (left channel) jacks on both to carry the audio info to the TV set. These use 'RCA' type jacks and plugs; this is the kind with a split shell and a protruding male pin on the plug.
Check your DVD player manual; even the poorest of them will generally show the different connection types.

Im trying to connect my coby dvd player to my samsui tv

Hi Maria,
You can hear the sound means your TV and the DVD player are working well. May be the video connecting cord ( yellow connector) between the TV and DVD player has gone bad. Please try replacing it. For testing, you can interchange it with any of the two sound connecting cords which have white and red connectors. I hope it helps.

HOW COME WHEN I INSERT MY DVD IT IS REJECTED

The DVD is in a format that the player cannot read. You could check what formats your player supports. If it is a writable CD your player may not support that particular format. If other discs play then the fault is obviously with the one that wont.

Technika led 22-248com: Dvd sound problem

Then its not the tv. Your dvd player has a fatal error- the mother board has a problem. You might try a different audio output source but a warm out problem is usually unfixable.
Try another dvd player first, before you go to Craigslist and start over with another player!

Toshoba tv/dvd combo. won't play many dvd's. makes clicking sound as it tries to load movie?

Dear Lesley!
It looks, like your DVD lens might get contaminated with dust and/or dirt, which is being picked up off DVDs. Let's try to load music CD, instead or DVD. If it loads well, I will suggest, that your DVD player is at fault and you must give up using it. External basic DVD players are quite inexpensive and easy to connect to your TV. But: if no CD, nor DVD load, the solution might be much simpler: use lens cleaner CD with brushes. good ones might even have a special fluid, which applied to brushes(alcohol based). Just load it into your TV's player and follow audible directions. After couple attempts, your lens should be clean enough to play DVDs. Please, don't try to use any "ear swabs", instead. The lengths is not long enough, plus it may damage load mechanism or get stuck inside. I've seen such a cases lately.
Good luck,
Thank you,
Alex.

I bought my mum an LG DVD player and some of the DVD's I bought for christmas will not play. I get the message "check regional code" but do not have a password or code to enter. Helena

It sounds like you are trying to play a DVD with a different region code than the player is designed to play. See label on rear/back of player and compare it with the DVD disk paperwork.
