HP P3005 Will not pull from Tray 1

We have an HP P3005 that simply won't pull any kind of paper from Tray 1, the manual feed tray. Manual Feed is ON and Tray 1 is set to Any Type on both paper and size. You run a paper path test, set it for Tray 1 but it just sits there and says Load Tray 1 - you put paper in to Tray 1 and it still just sits there - no reaction whatsoever. You have to switch to Tray 2 to get the printing out. Any one have any ideas?

I am confused . If you place a printer in to the manual feed does that not mean that you have to fed it by hand and it does not feed itself from the tray? I have a panasonic and manual feed and when placed in that position,  mean that automatic feed does not operate.

Click File > Print > Properties to check your settings.
To verify that tray 1 is working, put paper in tray 1. Press green check until you see Information Menu. Scroll using arrows until you see Print Menu Map then press green check. If it prints from tray 1, your problem is not with the printer, but with the PC settings.

i has follow this step, but need to press green check button to resume print menu map.

tray 1 manual feed set to A4 paper plain size
manual feed is on.
there is paper on tray 1
ps setting tray1 manual feed is A4 plain size paper.

send print to tray1 manual feed even there is paper at tray 1
i still need go to the printer and press green check button to resume print

It is possible to set each needed setting up as if it is an different printer so that when you need to print to a specific tray you just pick the 'printer' that has the settings you need. We do it at the university I attend to print out textbook cards and various other letters all from the same printer, but when we print we just select a 'different printer'.

Solved it, if media in tray 1 is slightly curved, like labels and the slight curve up is in the centre, then it will not pick up, try putting a nice flat sheet of whatever in , and see if that picks up , ours did,
so try and keep media flat,
labels are difficult because they start to curl slightly when only a few are left, due to tempreture and the fact they are not laying flat.

Remember whatever you tell your printer to do from the PC will override whatever settings you have put in the printer control panel. Check your settings when you're printing a document. If your default tray in software is tray 2 it will not print to tray 1 no matter what you tell it to do from the control panel.

I did this test and the printer is working fine, however what ever tray I pick in the computer... the mac be it auto or tray two, it still goes to tray one on the printer. In the printer tray two is the lower tray and tray one is the manual feed tray.

Hp laserjet p3005dn printer taking 3 papers

Your problem description is not clear, but based on experience I bet that your printer is taking three sheets of paper at a time. The pickup roller in tray 2 and the separation pad in the tray are probably worn out. They are easy enough to replace. You can verify that printer works properly by printing from manual feed tray and if that works ok then above solution is likely your fix.

Tray 1 doesn't feed while tray 2 has paper, after I empty the paper from tray 2, tray 1 work fine.

if you setup tray 1 any type, any size and tray 2 to plain, and letter size, it will allow you to use tray 2 for your plain letter jobs but will pull from the manual feed tray first only if the paper is in the manual feed tray if this makes any sense to you... please mark this as a fixya...

Hello. During printing I often can see error message 13.01.00 - paper jam, but really nothing jammed. I have printer HP LaserJet p3005. Thanks

Your printer has a misfeeding problem.
It never fed any paper so the sensor never sensed paper and thinks that there was a jam.
Try using the manual feed tray. If that works, pull out tray 2 and clean the feed roller . Is this printer
up to date on its maintenance? The feed roller might have to be replaced.

Does my printer have a "Manual Feed?"

Yes. The manual feed tray is in the front door with the HP logo on it. When you fold that down this becomes the manual feed tray. Also note that HP referes to this tray as Tray1. The bottom paper tray is tray 2.
Thank You for using Fixya.

HP P3005 - skid marks along paper's edge

Print 3 pages. Use the manual feed tray. As they print, open the cover, remove the toner and look down at the paper in the printer. Do you see marks along the edge? If no...replace the fuser. If yes...it could be the transfer roller.
