SOURCE: Sanyo DVD player DWM-400 won't do work

I have a similar problem with the Sanyo DWM-400. I also cannot turn power off. Even when I unplug it and then again plug in the power cord it will come back on after several minutes all by its self. It will then work okay for a few minutes and will play a DVD and will suddenly quit showing a picture. It seems that something is overheating shortly after turning it on. After letting it sit and cool down for a while it will play again but only for few minutes. Although I have had this player since April 2004 it has rarely been used. I estimate it only been used no more than 10 hours total. With so many buyers having this problem Sanyo should issue a recall on this model.

SOURCE: My Sanyo DWM-400 plays some DVD's and won't play others.

I bought another DVD player. I found out that all DVD's don't play on all DVD brands of players. They are cheap enough these days so I decided it wasn't worth a repair bill. The Sanyo DWM-400 plays many of my store bought DVD's and not others. I never tried a home made DVD in it so I don't know how it responds.

SOURCE: undefined region comes up when I insert any disc into my dvd play

This may be because it is region locked. The following will make the player region free and possibly solve your problem. By making your player region free you MAY be voiding any warranty the player has on it.

  1. Switch on, wait for "no disc"
  2. Enter 11233543254346
  3. Switch off

have you tried cleaning the pick- up lens with the lens cleaner.

Testimonial: "Thanks. I had completly forgotten about cleaning the lens. I used to have to do that on cd players."

Subtitles on Sanyo DVD Player Model DMW-380

For the DVM-390 model, the above problem can be due to the TV Guardian (TVG) mode. I would go to the intial setting options and under Language turn the TVG mode to "Off" and see if that allows the subtitle languages to appear on screen.
