Question about KitchenAid Kitchen Ranges

Installation of kitchenaid range - KGSS907SSS

We want to put small pull out cabinets on each side of the range. However, the instructions say to leave 5 inches on each side of the range for safety. That would eliminate the cabinets. Is there any way to safely install the range and keep the five inches on each side for cabinets --- maybe a shield to put on the stove or something?

Hello Mkoffice, this a very common problem when floors are installed in front of cabinets and not underthe cabinets. it also causes a problem for the dishwasher. it will become trapped or cant be installed. If you dont want to removed cabinets to install the tile. you will need to raise the cabinet height. my shop has run into this before. We add 1 inch tall strips of wood across the entire front edge of the cabinets. the same is done to the back wall and any area where two cabinets sides meet. we dont use full sheet of ply wood because the granite installers will need access into the top of the cabinets to level the counters. The wood type should match the cabinet.( at least in the front) it will have to be stained or painted.
Hope this helps

Hello,
It would seem like reasonable thing to do.However the adjustment is typically for the low setting so you can adjust just the small flame just enough to simmer a pot without the flame going out from being so low its susuptable to going out on the low setting, also it so you can adjust the flame smaller so on low it isnt too high, causing it will boil when you intend to only simmer a dish your cooking. A question;is it all burners and have they always been that way?

Oven not sparking to ignite burner

Many of the ovens do not spark but instead have a hot surface ignitor that will get very hot to light the burner. If it is not getting hot then it probably needs to be replaced.
