Another few reason is below.

I suggest you try to clean as per your risk or visit a canon service center. Thanks.

Sometimes this happens.

I am trying to turn on a newly purchased Canon SX20 camera but i get a message that says ''lens error'' and the camera won't start.

It may be new but the lens is damaged...that's why you get the error message. Take it back or take advantage of the warranty.

Lens Error

Try jiggling the lens. Use compressed air to blow out any grit around the lens barrel. If that doesn't do it, you'll need to get the camera serviced.

Fuji finepix s8100fd zoom error message

I'm npt sure if this will work as I have yet to try this for my self. But according to others who have had this problem pulling lens out while camera is off and then restarting camera works. If this does work please notify. Or just tell me what happens when this is done
