Question about Microwave Ovens

1 Answer

SANYO CG450 I have used the microwave without any problems since buying it. Recently when using it the microwave has become noisier and it sounds as if there is something vibrating inside. Is it dangerous to continue to use it? Can it be repaired? Does it matter?

Do I keep the glass plate in the microwave when on convection oven mode

If it came with the oven a definite yes as it will be able to withstand the heat during the convection setting. If a ordinary plate is used it must be rated for use in ovens as it will become very hot on convection oven mode. So, if it can withstand use in a ordinary oven it will work just as good in a convection oven.

What kind of sound is supposed to have a Microwave oven?
On microwave ovens I've used, only sound is a warning sound notifying that time is over and it's not possible nor recommendable to turn this sound off.

Sparks Flying

Microwave ovens are covered with a special durable paint and that helps reduce sparking. The problem is the area that you are seeing this at has become dirty with food debris. You need to clean it very well and if the paint has come off, repaint it with special paint. The paint can be found on amazon dot com and the cleaning has to be done without getting any moisture in the wave guide (which is behind the thing you called the vent.)

I am sorry to say this but you need to replace your Microwave Oven. It's cheaper to buy a new one than it is to have yours repaired. It sounds like you have wires burning inside the Oven. It is unsafe to even have it plugged in when not using it.
