Please help - I have an HP p6347 desktop machine. Two days ago an audio input into the machine either by download or by microphone recording, only plays out of the left speakers and not out of both left and right. Likewise on my stereo headphones. All other audio previously loaded on the machine via download or external microphone play back fine. Spent 3 hours with tech support downloading original drivers with no success. Can I install another sound card or what? Thanks

Ive no idea what is in the BOX that Desktop case
nor what OS is running, windows what?
are those HEad phonens with a 3.5mm phone jack or USB???????
do you run USB head phones/ yes/no? Doing so is very tricky, ask.
to test the internal sound, is easy, lets to that.
remove all USB devices first. but say a mouse.
for sure no USB head phones allowed NOW.

have only external speakers attached. to the 3.5mm jacks.
this pc has 2 front speakers and 2 rear, are both jacks failing?
front is green jack (try using only the GREEN JACK)
black is rear.
orange is Audio: Center Speaker/Subwoofer out
what jack are you using?

this PC came with Vista or W7, is it still that, ? or polluted with Microsoft disks or ISOs or other such rot.? or omg, FREE w10 upgrade last year,>? posting with out the OS stated, is so impossible.
i guess its a 2009 PC.
Athlon II processor. X4 640 with UATX mobo. )
has on onboard, (not plug in PCI card) audio chip
called Realtek.ALC888S (with limited support by them)
i went to there web site (make RealteK) they say it was designed for VISTA.
if running VISTA are the OFFICAL drivers loaded from the HP site?>
for sure this chip, is it , does it show up in device manager.>

can you add a card,
sure
buy one for:

  • 1 PCI x16 slot for graphics card (if occupied say so?)
  • 3 PCI x1 slots
  • 1 PCI Express x1 minicard slot

i cant open your case and see your slots but yes, they sell sound cars on many forms.
even uSB dongles that plug in and run.

is it so hard to say what OS is there, for 10x better support.
we cant guess that EVER.
wish I could here the 1st 5min talk to tech support.
when you answered what you had there.
OS
what jacks on audio bank plate rear?lots there.
what kind of head phones (USB) bad.
what else is plugged in the USB jacks, list them.

now let me do USB bad phones deals.
if you go to a store and buy phones,
you can buy good old 4 wire, 3.5mm phone jack phones,
they are passive phones, just speakers in the head pieces
no transistors inside, dig>
or you bought USB phones, sorry those are not passive at all
in fact they have a full blown USB sound chip inside.
and guess what, causes the internal PCs auto software
to go totally nuts. (means inconsistant and noise, and a long list of all bad things, no point is stating)

Imagine in your mind, you had a baseball park
and you at the batters plate
but Rod Serling is here and there are 4 teams, yah.
a full field in front of you and 1 behind, 2 pitchers. dig?
and you at home plate, (fish or cut bate>? go nuts)
same deal here.
what happens in the PC is the music file gets sent to both
chips and they go to logger heads fighting of that 1 file.
be it MP3, wav or what ever.

if no usb devices. there.
and still running VISTA.
and still running legit HP drivers for VISTA
and only the green jack is used,
then you need to reload, VISTA using the F10/F11 key.
like the book states, if the OS is corrupted, or virus infected
hit F11 (hp restore)

why post lacking the key facts here?

SOURCE: No Picture from Component Input #1 or #2 but do have audio via Surrond Sound

Simplest thing would be that your component cables are not HU'd correctly. Having them reversed would do this.

SOURCE: HP Laptop Microphone Jack

It sounds like you just need to choose the default audi input device. You can do this by going to the control panel.

Start Menu > Control Panel > Sound
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm260/mshockey89/Tech%20Support/ControlPanelSound.jpg

Once you get there just go to the recordings tab, select the device you want to use and hit "Set Default" after that you can hit properties and it should show you which jake it pertains too.

My microphone will not working

Make sure you have the microphone checked as a recording device in the Auido Sound Properties. Click Start/Control Panel and look for Sound or Audio and look through it to make sure the Microphone is selected as a recording device, that the volume is up and that the microphone is not muted.

You can also click the megaphone at the bottom right near the time to get to the Audio Sound properties.

There might be a way of testing the recording device by clicking Start/Programs/Accessories/Entertainment/Sound Recorder.

If all fails try downloading and reinstalling the Audio Drivers.
Get onlineand got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "CompaqSupport" or "HP Support" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operatingsystem when requested. Download and install the Audio drivers.

I have an AT&& 1717 answering machine. I would to transfer a message from the machine to my PC. Is there a way to do that?

The only way I can see doing this is to use a recording program on your computer. Plug in a microphone to your audio input and make that the active audio input. For Windows 7, click Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound. Then select Manage Audio Devices. Set your microphone up near the speaker of the answering machine.

Launch the recording software and start a recording session (set the sampling rate), then press Play on the answering machine. Record all the messages until past the one you want to keep. Then use the editing features in the software to delete the early segments.

Audacity is one of the recording software programs that I use but most of my recording is from a cassette tape. I'm using line in and not the microphone.

I hope this helps.

Microphone doesnt work

The issue could be due to incorrect audio settings.
I recommend you to follow the steps in the below link:

Also try reinstalling or updating the microphone drivers to isolate the issue.

Headet and desktop microphone problem.

first check if you have the right drivers on your computer for your audio, if you have audio like mine go to realtek audio manager it should be right beside the clock, then click on the top right corner it says device advanced settings it opens another box that gives you options for recording like tie up same type of input jacks, ie. line-in or microphone,as an input device. and it has another one separate all input jacks as independent input devices you could try one of those if you have realtek audio manager theres other options to that might help and if you dont have that go to recording devices and see if your mic is working properly and if its set to default device

My dell inspiron 1525 microphone does not record.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525. I used Skype ages ago and returned to it a couple of days ago. No one could hear me. I researched for 20 hours, downloading drivers, checking EVERY setting possible and NOW have got the ANSWER. The wires in the Microphone Array are fatigued. My microphone works perfectly when I tilt my lcd screen half way down. Go to Webcam Manager, Tools, Audio controls, the microphone has 2 bars which go green when you talk into it. Tilt your screen and watch the bars go up and down. Not the answer you probably wanted but as long as you skype with your screen half tilted everything is good to go

Mic is plugged in correct spot but no voice AT ALL goes through

I have written a guide on How to convert Records and Tapes to CD. I have found that when someone asks me a question like yours here is what I tell them. Go to http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ Download the program Audacity. It is a completely free program. It works great for many audio applications. It does not have spware or adware or anything like that attached to it. In fact many studios use this program. Click on the Download Audacity 1.2.6 link to download the program. Install the program and open the main window. In the middle of the window you will see a field that is labeled Microphone. If the field is not set to Microphone then change it by clicking on the drop down menu. There are two slider controls to the left and right of the small microphone icon. Click on the sliders and set them at about 1/2. These 2 controls are your microphone input level and your Audacity main volume control. Now simply click on the round red record button. Talk into your microphone. If your mic is recording you should see recorded sound waves in the middle of the window. Click on the square stop button and then click on the rewind button. Next click on the green play button. Make sure your computer speakers are turned up. If this doesn't work your sound card may not have recording capabilities or you may have your mic plugged into the wrong connection on your tower. You can move the mic to a different connection and try recording again. Just don't plug into your speaker connection this could damage the microphone. You can check to see if your sound card has recording capabilities by competing the following On your desktop click on start - control panel - sound, speech, and audio devices then click on sound and audio devices. When the small Sound and Audio Device Window opens, click on the audio tab. Under the title sound recording, you should have a sound card listed in that field. For example my card is a SoundMaxDigital Audio. The field is right next to the small microphone icon. If there is no card listed you can buy a cheap one online or even at Wal - Mart. They are very easy to install. You just find an empty slot on *********** board and your computer should recognize the card.

Cannot record audio from Youtube.com. Must transfer new songs onto mediaplayer.

Take Windows 7 OS as an example, here I'll show you how to record music from YouTube with sound Recorder program.
cannot-record-audio-from-youtube-com-oxaxc0rwhkhzilrwacqreyis-4-0.gif
  1. Open Sound Recorder by clicking the Start button. In the search box, type Sound Recorder, and then, in the list of results, click Sound Recorder.
  2. Play the music or radio you want to capture, and click start recording.
  3. To stop recording audio, click Stop Recording.
Note: Make sure you have audio input devices like Microphone.
This method is absolutely free but you have to play with speaker and use microphone, and it's very difficult to control the quality of the audio you capture.

Here are some more tools as well as methods to help you record audio from YouTube.
