I would see if it reads blueray MOVIES, if not it could be a problem with the blueray reader. In that case I would see if you can locate one of those cleaning discs with a brush on it to clean the laser or contact sony to see if your console is under warranty.
Have you tryed to play a BlueRay movie? PS3 games are stored on BlueRay so it might play DVD's and CD's, but the BlueRay's laser diode could be burning out.

the ps3 has 2 different lenses in the disk drive 1 is blueray and the other is just a basic dvd cd lens<
your blueray lens will have burned out if your still under warranty you should be fine to call sony and request a free repair if your not under warranty it will cost around £120
