Switch off the Printer and remove the Power Cord.
1. Remove 6 T-15 screws (Type B) from
the HDD Access Cover. Remove the
HDD Access Cover.
2. Remove the HDD with its foam holder.
3.
Disconnect the HDD Cable and Power
Supply Cable from the HDD.
When Installing the Hard Disk Drive make sure the holder is
placed in the right position so that it cannot move.
When the Hard Disk Drive is
replaced perform the
following Service Utility: Backup EEROM
Backup EEROM
This Service Utility is used to restore the contents of the EEROM
when a service engineer has replaced the Main PCA or the Hard
Disk Drive. If the Main PCA is replaced the EEROM content,
backed up on the hard disk, is restored to the Main PCA and if the
Hard Disk Drive is replaced the EEROM content is saved to the new
Hard Disk Drive.
Before using this utility, make sure that you are using Firmware
version A.02.xx. If NOT, make sure that you upgrade the
Firmware version to A.02.xx BEFORE using this utility.
1. In the Service Utilities submenu, scroll to "1.6 Backup EEROM"
and press Enter.
2. Select the part that has been replaced and press Enter
3. If you select "Hard Disk Drive (HDD)" a message confirming
selection is displayed. Press Enter to confirm and exit this utility or
press Back to cancel.
4. Press Back to return to the Service Utilities menu.

DISC CRACH

If your hard drive is "crashing" and you can still access it, copy any important files off of it thay you want, like docs, pictures, music, etc... From there, you need to replace the hard drive, they are not extermely expensive and easy to install. If this is your main drive with your OS on it, you will then have to reinstall windows or whatever OS you have, then copy your files onto the new hard drive. If you cannot boot up because it is your main drive and has already crashed, your best bet is to get a new one and reinstall your OS, then get an external hard drive reader and try to access it and get your files that you want. If it is crashed, not accesible, the only way is to take it to an expert, which is very expensive. Unless these are "must have, can't live without" files, you probably will just have to take your lumps on losing that data. Either way, when your HDD starts to go, it is usually only a matter of time before it totally crashes so a "repair" or quarentining any bad sectors is only a band aid and will eventually, sooner than later, die on you all the way.

Hello Sir i purchased 500 GB seagate 500GB free agent go hard disk 2 years before. recently i encountered the problems as follows. usb did not recognize the hard disk and it sound like sparking also white...

What sounds like sparking could be a head crash. If it is a head crash
then you are basically finished with the drive. They all go sometime.
The only safe way is to have another backup drive and keep a current second
copy of all information which you must save. Even this procedure is not
completely safe.
The hard drive should not make any noticeable sound (not more than a fan
sound). If it does, then it is probably dead or about to die. If the information
on the drive is IMPORTANT, then you can contact a data disc recovery site
which can help you with removing most of the data from a crashed disc.
I pioneered this recovery system idea many years ago and several companies
exist now to recover data from crashed discs.

I have samsung's hard disk it making noise like chuk,chuk.. and after that machine get hanged. hard disk is old but it has so much empty space. how i can fix this problem, please give me solution for...

Hi princewild99,

The reason why it's making noise is the hard disk is failing. Hard disks are composed of mechanical parts and is prone to wear and tear. I greatly recommend that you get another hard disk instead. There's no way to fix it unfortunately and you don't want to lose any files saved if you continue using it.

Hope this helps.

The hard drive crashed will not start

If the hard drive have crashed meaning that the hard drive itself is damaged, then your solution is to replace a new harddrive. If you do have a recovery disc already made, or one is provided then you will have to use that disc once the hard drive is replaced with the new one, and follow the procedure to reinstalled the operating system. If the original hard drive had crash and does no work anymore (where the bios/computer cannot detect it) and you have important data that you would like to retrive, there are places such as office depot, bestbuy, where they can help you send it to a recovery file center to recover files from your damaged hard drive. Do not attemp to fix or open a damaged harddrive, you can forever damage the files on the cyclinder disc. 2) Now if your harddrive crash in term as windows just crashing and you cannot get into your operating system and the bios is still able to detect the hard drive, and it's giving you a error message, then you will only need to reinstall, or do a windows recovery through your recovery disc, If you do not have a recovery or made the disc, then you will need to buy a new operating system software. If you computer does not start meaning no display on the screen at all, then please replay back. That is a different story.

Hi I am Steve, lets get you some help
As you are talking about a hard drive I assume you have turned off RAID.

It does depend why the hard drive has failed. If it is an actual failure of the drive then it needs replacing and the data is lost except from data recovery firms.
However, it may be that the hard disk controller has stopped working. This will prevent you getting to your hard disc.
Your motherboard should have 2 hard disc controllers. Try plugging the hard disc into the second controller, this will be on the motherboard next the the one it is already plugged into. This may solve the issue. If not then it is a hard disc failure and you will need to replace it and use a professional service to recover the data.

Blue screen with rows of white lines (not BSOD) causing laptop crash

A blue screen generally indicates an operating system error or hard drive failure. Start by doing a system repair with your recovery or operating system disc. If the repair doesn't take, then reformat the hard drive and install a new operating system. If the hard drive won't format, or you have any issues during or after the install, then the hard drive has failed and will need replaced. You will need an operating system or recovery disc in order to do this. If this is a preloaded machine that didn't come with any discs, then you will need to acquire the disc.

Windows crash

These are operating system errors. Start by doing a check disc from the bios or set up. The check disc is a hard drive test, if anything fails then you have a hard drive crash and you will need to replace the hard drive. If it passes, then you will need to run a repair on the operating system using your recovery or operating system disc. If you have any hang ups or issues during or after the repair then you will need to completely reload a fresh copy of the operating system.
