I want to scan to my documents and the scan only scans to photo essentials. What do I do?


Hi,

How are you scanning it ? From HP Solutions Center or HP Director ?

Try this step.

Open HP Director or HP Solution Center.

Under Settings you will find Pictures/Document Scan
Below you will find option like File Type : Choose JPEG or PDF

Save it.

IF this does not work, the best option for you is to uninstall HP Photosmart Essentials from Add/Remove programs ( or Control panel - Programs and Features )

But however, by default the pictures/documents are still saved in MY Documents - My Scans folder even if the Photosmart essential pop-up after you scan

HP Solution Center won't open- why?


I tried everything including uninstall three times and down loading the software from hp. Then I found a work around. I'm on Vista. I clicked on network and then on the c130 printer...then view device web page. This brought up all the information that would be in the Solution Center. It works!

My scanner stopped working. hp solution center says that the device installation is not complete. i have a hp photosmart 3210 all in one. it was working the last time i used the scanner.


You probably need to uninstall and re-install the Latest Drivers for your printer

To uninstall you can do it from the Software disk you recieved with printer.
Insert the Disk in CD ROM and Click uninstall from HP Printer Menu

OR If you dont have the disk, you need to manually uninstall the Software
( Disconnect the USB cord before uninstalling )

Click START - Open Control panel - Add/remove Programs ( XP ) / Or Programs and FEatures ( Vista/Win 7 )
you will find list of HP Programs installed..

Choose one by one and uninstall these programs
1. HP Customer participation program
2. HP Imaging Device and software
3. Software and drivers for Photosmart 3200
4. HP Solution Center or HP Director
5. HP Image Zone ( or Image Zone Express / HP Photosmart Essential )
6. HP Update
7. HP Printer Drivers/Diagnostic Drivers
( after every Uninstall you will be prompted to restart the PC, you will find an option [ Click here to restart later ]. click on it and restart the PC once you completed uninstalling all the above programs )

Once you have uninstalled - click on this link to download the latest drivers by choosing your operating system

How do I clean the print heads? My black ink will


  1. Load unused, plain white letter or A4 sized paper into the tray.
  2. Open HP Solution Center:
    • Windows XP: Click Start , click All Programs , click HP , and then click HP Solution Center .
    • Windows Vista: Click the Windows icon, click All Programs , click HP , and then click HP Solution Center
HP Solution Center opens.
  1. Click Settings.
  2. Under Print Settings , click Printer Toolbox . The Printer Toolbox opens in a new window.
  3. Click the Device Services tab.
  4. Click Clean the Printhead .
  5. Follow the prompts on the screen, and then click Done .

Photosmart d5160 keeps printing a test page after i print anything


Please perform the following steps:

* Make sure the CD/DVD tray is closed.

* Double-click the HP Solution Center icon.

* In the HP Solution Center (for Windows OS, if you are using Mac please let me know), click the tab for the HP Photosmart 5100 series.
* Click the Settings button.

* Point to Print Settings.

* Highlight and click Printer Toolbox.

* After the Printer Toolbox opens, click the Align print cartridges button.

* Follow the on-screen prompts to align the cartridges and print an alignment page.

Hp has free software called photosmart essentials that I think come with your printer. Go to hp.com/support type in your particular product the os vista 7 xp whatever and it will show you the downloads for your product. Download the full features or just the photosmart essentials and you should be able to upload pictures from printer to photosmart essentials on your pc.

Duplex copying on HP Photosmart C8280 All-in-One Can't see how to do two-sided copy apart from scanning both sides and printing two-sided! Old HP printer could do 1-1 1-2 2-1 2-2 etc.


Open HP Solution Center, click on Settings, click on Scan Preferences, select "Scan both sides of original when using duplex feeder."

or
Open Solution Center, click on Scan Document, and you should have a check box towards the bottom of the window which would say 'scan both sides of the original document'. check that box and start scanning.

  1. Open HP Solution Center, if it is not already open:
    • Windows XP or 2000: Click Start , click All Programs , point to HP , and then click HP Solution Center .
    • Windows Vista: Click the Windows icon , click All Programs , point to HP , and then click HP Solution Center .
    HP Solution Center opens in a new window.
  2. In HP Solution Center, click Settings , and then click Scan to...Setup . The Front Panel Destination List Setup window opens.
  3. From the Available Scan Destination list, click the program you want to be the scanning destination, and then click the Add button . The program moves to the Front Panel Destination list. NOTE: You can also move the program to the top of the Front Panel Destination to scan to that destination automatically.
  4. If you do not want to change any other settings, click OK to close the Front Panel Destination List Setup window.

  1. Disconnect the USB cable from the product.
  2. Click Start , and then click Control Panel .
  3. Click Add or Remove Programs . The Add or Remove Programs window opens.
  4. In the Currently installed programs list, select the following items if they are listed:
    • HP Officejet/Photosmart/PSC All-in-One software 9.0
    • HP Imaging device functions 9.0
    • HP Customer Participation program 9.0
    • HP Solution Center 9.0
    • HP Photosmart Essentials 9.0
    If the list of installed HP programs contains any version numbers less than 9.0, select the following items if they are listed:
    • HP Officejet/Photosmart/PSC All-in-One software XX (where XX represents a version number less than 9.0)
    • HP Imaging device functions XX
    • HP Customer Participation program XX
  5. Click Change/Remove , and then follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall the software.
    NOTE: If a prompt displays asking you to remove shared files, click No . Other programs that use these files might not work correctly if the files are deleted.
  6. Restart the computer when prompted to do so.

No HP devices detected. HP Solutions Center will close now.


Unistall the software you have for it now. Go to HP.com and look for Vista drivers for your printer.
