MW19R X2gen 19" LCD Monitor goes black after 5-15 sec. A couple of fixes on line were to replace capacitors with larger ones. If this is what you recomend, please tell me 1. location and size of old ones and 2. size of new ones

    screen goes blank

I have the same problem with my mw19u. When I booted up my pc I would have to turn the monitor off then back on. Sometimes I would do this a couple times and it would stay on for good and other times I would go through this for a while before it would stay on. My power light on the monitor stays green when it goes black. If it was the power supply wouldn't that light go out? I did notice yesterday while messing with it that I could see a dark faint image of what was on the screen like the back light wouldn't stay on or something. I keep hearing about the capacitors being replaced in these monitors. If this is a good fix I would like to know which ones and if they need to be larger or same. I could use some good details.

The only solution I have found to work until next time you shut down or reboot is to open the menu, go to Tool Icon and press and hold Reset button for a few seconds. You may have to do this several times before it "takes". Sometimes you may have to press Auto and Reset simultaneously. It is probably not due to your computer, or cables, or connection, video adapter, or board.

I fixed my monitor! I took it apart and pulled out the inverter board. I then removed the three capacitors on the board. Two 220uF25V and I believe a 47uF35V. Went to Radio shack and bought two new 220uF35V (I don't believe changing the max voltage made a difference.) and a 47uF35V Capacitors for $5 all together. Soldered them in and turned it on. Victory! It works again. It seems that this monitor is just made with cheap capacitors and they quit working. One note when replacing capacitors. Make sure you have the polarity right. It is marked on the board by a shaded in half of the capacitor outline and on the capacitor but a line on one side with negative symbols(-). I have seen capacitors installed wrong and they blow up, lol.

After hooking up my Dell to the monitor it displayed a message ! " Out of range ," the monitor then went black . How do I fix it ?

Your screen resolution or refresh rate is set out of limits for the monitor. Check your monitor documentation to determine the correct resolution and refresh rates for the monitor. Then reboot the PC, go into SAFE mode, then re-adjust the display resolution there. Once you reboot after that, the monitor should be fine.

MW19r powers up but sceen remains black

If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for:
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Screen goes dark after 1minute, power lite stays on

Possibly the lcd ccfl inverter. Ebay sells universal ones for 9 to 25 dollars each. Monitor repair knowledge needed to replace this part.
It could also be your external power supply if it is not OEM. Or if it failing under a load. If the picture is good when it is on, I always start looking at the power supply and the ccfl inverter/transformer. Please understand I am not an expert on LCD's I just seem to get lots of failing ones. ---Hope this helps.

Screen goes black but power light stays on

Hello. I had the same problem with my X2gen 19" (model MW19R)monitor. In my case, the monitor would turn off after 20 seconds or so but the blue power light would stay on as well. I had to replace a high voltage capacitor located in the backlight power supply board. There are 4 blue capacitors on the board which are identical and they are marked as 27J 3KV. Fortunately, I only had to replace one of these capacitors ( it was turning a yellowish brownish color ). Hope this helps.

X2Gen MW19R picture goes out after 5-20 sec.

First of all inspecting all the caps closely...see if any caps has a stress mark like a pluffed on top. Those with a pluffed replaced with the same type of voltages that mark on the side of a caps. Those with no pluffed need to tested with ESR meter to see any leaked. If it leaked replaced those too...
Have fun!

X2gen MW19R picture only stays on for one to fifteen seconds...

Dear Chris,

Visually check the component :
Try checking on the power board , may be ESR of capacitor is faulty and power resistor shorted and burnt.
