What type of refrigerant should be used in a Mitsubishi ms09tw 2001 air conditioner?

The answer is R410A.

Refrigerant Types in a Central Air Conditioner
There are 2 different types of air conditioning refrigerant currently used in residential cooling systems. R-22, commonly referred to a Freon and R410A, a blend considered to be more environmentally friendly, sometimes called Puron.

R410A (sometimes known as Puron), is the industry's choice to replace R-22 in central air conditioning systems. It is less reactive with the environment while having the same home cooling characteristics of R-22. R410A is not interchangeable with R-22-you choose one or the other and your air cooling equipment is designed to operate with it. When you purchase a R-410A system, a new line set is included with your central air installation as well as a new evaporator coil. Our experience with R-410A has been excellent. New cooling systems have been dependable and efficient, as well as operating quieter! R-410A is the refrigerant of the future!

Less reactive with the environment
Replaces R-22 in the year 2020
Cannot be used with R-22 systems
Quiet and dependable
Freon, R22, heat pump refrigerant
R-22 also known as Freon has been used for decades as the refrigerant in central air conditioning systems. However it has been linked to Ozone depletion and has therefore been banned from being manufactured after the year 2010. It's price will increase as the supply decreases.

Good luck,

I have a Fredders A3X05F2A-J model and was wondering how to recharge the unit, if possible? If so where could i pick up a recharge kit?

I don't beleive there is a DIY kit for recharging window air conditioners. At least not one, that would be reasonably affordable (less than $100.00) . Now, if you have a friend who's in the auto repair business and as part of his work, he recharges automobile AC compressors, he may can help you. As he would have the knowledge to balance the high and low sides of the compressor. As well as evacuate and capture any freon that's left in the system. As freon has be banded by the EPA. R134a is now the refrigerant used in AC compressors. By now, I guess you figured out, that recharging the system is not necessarily a DIY project. It's best left to the pros.

Hope this was of hep to you and thanks for choosing fixture.

Hi. We have a Goodman CK49-15 and AC guy just told us that comopressor is fried and said he cannot get another one and a replacement for the whole system will be over $9K. Just curious if that seems...

Hi, and no, no, no,!! There is still plenty off the R-22 freon units that have been made, and there is plenty of the R-22 to last for another 15 years or so. If your compressor is fried, it should be around $12 to $1600.00 to replace it. This includes recovering freon, replacing the compressor, a new suction and liquid line drier and a new run capacitor. In fact, they sell a complete compressor change out kit for your unit right this minute, includes every thing he needs to to the job. This is a 3 ton unit and the price he quoted you was awefull!!! There are plenty of compressors on the market for your unit every where, he's just trying to sell you the new R410-a unit and stick it to you on the price. Call around and give them your model number and tell them your compressor is bad. Get several estimates. That compressor is available today, and I could call my supplier and have one with in the hour. Go with a new compressor, it will be years before they use up the R-22 we have. They still haven't used up the R-12. Please don't forget to rate me as I know you will be kind, and let me know if you need my help.

Hi, I would have to say you have R-22 in this system. 134-a is for autos and some refrigeration commercial units. R-410-a is for the new residential units. and is a very high pressure freon. So, yes yours is R-22.

Freon R-22

I would not worry about the R-22 gas part. First, you do not have to put gas in an A/C unless there is a leak. The A/C gas is not like propane that you have to keep refilling because it gets used up. A/C gas circulates in a closed system and years can pass before you may even need some. Take for example the R-12, it was fhased out in 1994 and it is still available (for technicians only) 16 yrs. later.

So if you like the unit and the $$, get it.

Don't forget to rate this post. Good Luck!!

Hi have central air . Unit working ok but noticed not blowing cold air . The fan outside is working , Unit comes on . Could it be feron . unit it about 7 years old . Purchase house about 4 years ago

You need to have a pressure gauge the reads for R-22. (Freon) It sounds like the system might have a leak. Look for a wet place any place on the units pipe system. It has a little oil in with the freon that is forced out of any leak. If you see a wet place this is oil. It is also the location of your leak.

What type of freon dose ptac use

These are hermetically sealed units and you are unable to recharge them without using a piercing valve. If you are able to do this they normally take r-22 freon, but you need to be EPA certified to purchase it.
