You need to go to regional and languages control in the control panel and set to english united kingdom in there, on the language tab go to details and add english united kingdom then remove the 1 you have. restart for it to take effect

Compaq presario sr1230nx keyboard won't work

If it is older, you may need to install drivers for the keyboard. alternatively, your keyboard/keyboard socket may be damaged.
Here is a link giving access to the keyboard drivers for your computer. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?cc=us&lc=en&product=431082

The following site also offers a link to drivers but it is a far better idea to get the driver from the manufacture's site than elsewhere.

My logitech keyboard won't let me type the pound sign 0r the @ symbol

hi there
it sounds like your keyboard is set to an american style layout.
if the @ key shows up as a " mark and vice versa then you just go to the blue bar at the bottom of the screen on the right hand side you will see the letters EN double click on it and the option to change from english us to english uk will be there. change to english uk and then remove the us version completely as it can default back to it, restart your machine and you should be o.k.

My keybaord wont perform the pound sign and also the @ has moved place....how can I fix this?

I'd first check that what ALL of the keys generate.

Possible defective keyboard, some aren't too expensive.

It could also be that somehow the keyboard map was shifted. The @ 'moved' [ how does it get displayed now? ] & # doesn't appear.

When i press the 3 key and the shift key i should get a pound sign but I get a hash sign#

Hello,

Shift + 1 = !
Shift + 2 = @
Shift + 3 = #
Shift + 4 = $

I am assuming your keyboard is set to English USA. Go into control panel, regional settings and make sure everything there is set to UK but then also open Word, up to Tools on menu bar, down to language and check that it is English UK there also and set by default. If this does not work you will have to insert it from character map and add it to autocorrect feature.

Hope this helps. Kindly update me on the same.

regards
Sammy
