Sansui VRDVD4005 DVD Player / VCR Combo Problem: Will play but not record or reformat DVD-RW disks

  • rjwoodsop Sep 24, 2008

I tried several new (blank) DVD-RWs, none of which were readable. If it's the burn processor, HOW do I repair or replace it?

Hey,

The player definitely supports RW disks. The drive / lens may have a problem, cleaning the lens might help. There are DVD lens cleaner kits available in most local shops, wallmart, best buy and so on.

If your dvd player is covered by warranty, its best to send it in for repair as if the lens has a problem.

Sansui DVD Vcr combo wont play Dvd's model no. VrdVD4005

you will need to run a cleaning disk in it , if that won't work then it will have to be taken apart to clean the laser eye manually
which then if you can't do this then you will need to take it to a local repair shop where they can do it

SANSUI WAY TO RECORD FROM VCR TO DVD

Your model is a DVD player only and has no recording capability. There are devices that will allow you to transfer your VHS tapes to a computer equipped with a CD/DVD writer to preserve them on disk.
Tevion is one make that comes to mind.

Only dvd plays properly but vhs will not show picture.

Most likely you have the dvd part connected through component or svideo cables. Despite the fact that this is one unit, like other vcr/dvd combo units it acts as two separate units in the same box. The vcr will probably not play through those cables. As you have audio coming through I'd imagine that the audio is connected using red and white composite cable. Connect the video on the vcr side with composite yellow cable or run direct to tv with a coaxial cable.

Won't play DVDs or CDs at all. Reads error code C-104.

Sansui VRDVD4005 will record DVDs provided they are DVD-R NOT DVD+R. I have one of these for 3 going on 4 years and I took it apart and cleaned the dust off the magnetic hub and that worked for awhile but (2-3 months) now I'm having trouble finalizing again. Someone on this site said it needs 8x NOT 16x disks ... 'cause it's an older unit ... I'm checking it out in the users manuel.

Vcr to dvd recording

As i recall, +r's will only format in dvd vr, the unit does not like high speed recording disks. switch to dvd drive - insert blank disk - if no format screen - goto (on remote) setup - onscreen menu - system setup - disc setup - new disk format - hit center button in ring on remote to change to vr or move up to reformat as vr. once disk is formatted, use record speed button on remote to set record speed 1,2,4,6 hr then switch to tape deck with tape in and stopped at begining, on remote hit dubbing, it will ask you confirm dubbing vhs-dvd .... toggle over to yes & hit center button... away you should go... c245 is a copyguarded tape.
