If you are using one of Lexmark printers that has the new ink system based upon individual tanks (like the following models: S300, S400, S500, S600, Pro200, Pro700, Pro800 & Pro900 Series), these models require all cartridges to have ink them to continue printing.
However, there are some previous Lexmark models that are able to continue printing even if one cartridge is empty.
Should you still need assistance, please leave a comment to my response and I'll get back to you. Should this answer your concern, your rating will be greatly appreciated.

Why my printer say yellow cartridge missing,i replaced all of them

First thing I would do is to remove the yellow and put it back in, making sure it snaps in place properly. If that doesn't fix it you might be having a problem with the electrical connections on the print-head. Print-heads do act up sometimes. If it were mine, I would remove the ink cartridges and then remove the print-head and clean the electrical connections off on the print-head and the corresponding connections on the printer, using a alcohol wipe or something similar. Reinstall the print-head and ink and try it again. If that does not work you may need to replace your print-head. They are about 30-40 bucks online.

HP A636 will not print yellow; tricolor cartridge is new

  • Align the print cartridge.
The printer automatically aligns the print cartridge after a new one is installed. You can also align the print cartridge at other times to ensure optimal print quality. Indications that you need to align the print cartridge manually include borderless prints with white space
along an edge, colors not printing satisfactorily, or poor print quality.

To align the print cartridge from the printer
  1. Load a sheet of HP Advanced Photo Paper in the input tray.
  2. Touch the Setup icon to display the Setup menu. For more information, see "Setup Menu" on page 16.
  3. Touch Cartridge.
  4. Touch Align Cartridge and follow the prompts.

Clean the print cartridge automatically.
If the printed pages are missing lines or dots or contain ink streaks, the print cartridge might be low on ink or need to be cleaned.
CAUTION: Clean the print cartridge only when necessary.
Unnecessary cleaning wastes ink and shortens the life of the cartridge.

  • Clean the cartridge.
Follow these steps to clean the cartridge automatically:
To clean the print cartridge from the printer,
  1. Touch the Setup icon to display the Setup menu. For more information, see "Setup Menu" on page 16.
  2. Touch Cartridge.
  3. Touch Clean Cartridge and follow the prompts.
If the documents are still missing lines or dots after cleaning, replace the print cartridge.

My printer is not printing. it will run the paper

I see you don't have much knowledge about printers. It always helps to know something about your printer. It seem you have a color printer. Usually a color printer has two cartridges. Black cartridge and color cartridge. The color cartridge usually contains three colors; cyan, yellow and magenta. If the black cartridge is empty, you won't see black text in the printed paper. Print a small photo and see. If it has all the colors, but looks dull (without proper black color), that means only the black cartridge is empty. If it is greenish, the magenta ink is missing. Generally orange colored printouts suggest cyan is missing. Likewise, purple color means the yellow ink is missing. If you installed the printer properly using the CD from the printer manufacturer, you will be notified when the cartridge is empty or close to run out of ink. But if Windows automatically installed your printer, then the system won't give such information. From the information you have supplied, I believe your blck cartridge is empty or missing. Oh, I almost forgot to say, some manufactures sell some printers (for example some Canon Pixma models) with only the color cartridge. Switch on the printer and open the printer cover. The cartridges will move to the middle. You can check whether the black cartridge is missing. Do not hesitate to contact us for further help.

One of the 3 colors will not print

This problem may be due to blocked nozzles, faulty cartridges or a faulty print head or main board. The first thing to do is eliminate the cartridges. Do a proper cartridge change on both printers, but swap the yellow and cyan (blue) cartridges between printers rather than fit new ones. If either (or both) of the missing colours now appear, you know the problem is the cartridges; replace it (or them) with new ones.

For example, take printer A, with yellow missing. Do a cartridge change procedure on printer A, but instead of fitting a new yellow cartridge, put in the yellow cartridge from printer B (since you know this yellow cartridge works). If yellow now prints in printer A, you know the cartridge you took out is faulty - put a new yellow in printer B, and throw away the cartridge you removed from printer A. Repeat this process for printer B with the Cyan cartridge.

For one or both printers where the above does not solve the problem, then you can try soaking the print heads for 24 hours (or more), as follows. Turn the printer on, and as soon as the print head moves pull the power cord out of the back, or turn the printer off at the mains. You may now carefully move the print head by hand over to the left hand side out of the way. Look inside the print head parking area on the right and you will see a small rubber cup that comes up to cover the print nozzles when the head is parked (to stop it drying out). Use a syringe or dropper to fill this cup with head cleaning fluid or distilled water. DO NOT USE TAP WATER. Carefully push the print head across fully into its parking position on the right, so that the cup full of fluid comes up over the print head. Leave this for at least 24 hours, then try a head clean or two. If the missing colours now start to appear, try another clean or two. If still not perfect, leave for 24 hours and try again. If still nothing, report back.

One cartridge missing!

its best to leave all the cartridges in the printer even if they are empty. the printer will continue to print but with the absence of yellow any color printing might be off color. black and white printing should be unaffected.

Yellow won't print with old or new cartridge

Some ink jets are differant. Some have an Ink jet cartridge system that has the print head on the cartridge itself. Others use a seperate print head. When you pull out the ink cartridge is there another small unit below the cartridge that you can pull out? If so that is the print head and you will need to replace it. Also make sure that you have taken off the tape off of the air pilot hole on the ink cartridge so it can work properly. www.tonerovernight.com
