Can you repair the finish on the screen, its all blotchy

Two things to try:

You can take the screws out of the back of the unit to get to the back of the screen. On 951XDs the outer screen is just a protective cover for the actual LCD and its typically glued onto the front cover with an adhesive.
Once you isolated the screen away from the rest of the electronics then you can clean it with "Novus 1, 2, 3 Kit Plastic Polish and Scratch Remover" (find on Amazon).
The plastic used for the cover of the 961XDs are typically alcohol resistant, the chances are that someone has used acetone instead!

Screen is scratched

Options are limited with these units
1- send it back to the factory and hope they have parts for it
2- Try a screen scratch repair kit, be very careful you can do worse damage to these units if you use the wrong product or get overly enthusiastic with the scratch removal
3- Get used to it?
4- Find another unit that is dead but the screen is not scratched and start changing parts around.
Sorry but that's about for these things. Hope this helps

Denso 86120 AVN-S receiver assembly radio/GPS - screen scratched

Yes it can be repaired and fixed. You just need to replace the touch screen. Touch screen is about $75. Then either you or somebody will need to replace it. It is really easy. You can do it yourself.
If you need assistance in getting part etc.. contact me at repair156@yahoo.com

A-65 screen has fine scratches/clouds

My Raymarine A65 was so bad in daylight I could not read the screen. Used Never Dull polish from ACE hardware, similar to Brasso, and it took every scratch and cloudy mark off the screen. The can documentation includes glass as one of the items it?s safe to use on. Looks new again, Good Luck, Paul

Adhesive on screen

Rubbing alcohol or a soapy water solution using a soft cloth or paper towel would work fine without scratching your screen

Screen scratch

Taking apart the unit is quite easy and replacing it should not be a problem if you are technically incline. Pry of the face by lifting just under the Garmin name, remove the 4 screws that secure the face, gently pull apart keeping note of the antenna and it's orientation which is located on the back top of the case. Gently pull the battery/speaker plug to allow yourself more room to work. Remove the three screws that secure the main board to the face (silver). Gently remove ribbon cable connected at the top to free the face screen. You will need to replace the whole screen as this is one unit.

Garmin 60csx

Yes...but they now charge $150.00 for the screen. The screen isn't covered by their warrenty. If you just need the screen replaced because of scratches...try this...it works great and costs about 20.00 or so shipped. http://www.janvil.net/item.asp?cID=32&PID=31
