Question about Rinnai RHFE-431FAIII 16,700 BTU Direct Vent Furnace Energy Saver Heater - Natural Gas

Rinnai gas heater

My Rinnai has been functioning for a couple of years now, I cannot figure out why it intermitently makes a sputtering sound (quite loud) when it cycles on. I installed a pressure regulator and it still sputters when it turns on sometimes. Any thoughts?

I am not a plumber, but I know that if you don't clean it annually you will get build up. The way that the pipes wind back and forth through the system lends to build up on the copper piping. You may want to make sure that you get it serviced.

Here is the Rinnai website to look up your model's manual, so you can go thru the trouble shooting section or call them directly for help. Your particular model # will start with either a "C" or an "R". http://www.rinnai.us/customer-care/manuals-literature

Extremely annoying humming sound coming from our rinnai RCE-318H gas heater. sounds like a bearing or wheel spinning noise. please help?

The humming you hear is from the gas pressure or lack there of. Check the inline gas shut off valve, to make sure it's fully open. If that checks out OK, turn the unit OFF completely and wait five minutes, before turning everything back ON and relighting the heater. If the noise is still there, contact your Rinnai dealer for a service call.

I hope this helped you, Arthur. Thanks for choosing FixYa. Cheers!

Rinnai spares are available from the company through service agents depending on where you are. Let me know the model, approximate year you bought it and where you live and I might be able to find out who is closest to you or at least a number to ring.

You could try Rinnai.com.au on the web

your temp control is bad and you will have to have a tech to service the unit, contact rinnai and they will give you info on a quilified repair person,, not just any one should be allowed to work on it,, depending on the age it may still be under warranty,, they come with 5 year parts 1 year labor 12 years on heat exchanger this is on all rinnai units

No hot water - Rinnai tankless hot water heater

sounds like the water line is frozen before it gets to heater. You can take a blow dryer and try to thaw the line. You should be able to hook up a hose on the hot side of water heater. turn valve off so it wont flow into house. You can turn on hot water valve on in kitchen but you will have to thaw cold and hot line. Make sure you know where water shut off is to the house just in case a line breaks.
