Question about Digital Cameras

1 Answer

Just bought a new 2GB memory card for my Fuji A340. Keep getting message 'Card Not Initialized'. Tried to format card to no avail. Gone through all troubleshooting solutions, tried to call Fuji support (cannot get through despite holding for over an hour). Out of ideas what to do next. Please help. Many thanks. Sarah

Sounds a bit like my problem with my Olympus 2gb XD card. Finally finished up half way round the world for an answear;I suggest you see if there are worldwide options for info. Post your problem and see what happens, I finally got my solution from Europe within 24hrs. Sorry I can`t help more just thought it might be worth a try.

To continue, I had to download what is called " A picture cardpack setup" , maybe Fuji have a simular thing, maybe they, like Olympus ask you to enter a number but do not tell you where. This cost me hours of hair pulling, Fixya answears helped put me in the right direction.

I am getting a message that reads "card not initialized". It is a new XD picture card. How do I initialize the card?

To initialize the new XD card, you go into the camera's setup menu and navigate to the format function. Format the card and you might be ready to go. If your new card has an "M" or an "H" preceeding the XD, your camera will need a firmware upgrade before it will recognize the card. Here's a link to the firmware upgrade procedure. http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digital/download/a340/fupd.html

Card no Initialized

If your new xD card has an "H" or an "M" before the 1gb, it is not compatible with your camera unless a firmware upgrade is performed (go to www.fujifilm.ca and follow the links for support to the firmware upgrade section). If the card doesn't have the H or M, you just need to format the card in the "set-up" menu of the camera.

Card Initialize Error

What size is the original card? I don't think it is your camera, possibly the size of the new card.

I had the same problem and downloaded a firmware upgrade from the Fuji web site and it now works in the camera.

'Card not initialized'

I just bought a sweet FUJI FinePix S5700...
I could not for the life of me understand why I was getting this message, and I was getting very upset !!!
I have a brand new Sandisk 2GB card, and it was driving me CRAZY.
My solution turned out to be a very simple one.
When your computer sees your card and you need to format it, it will give you TWO options. Either format using "FAT32", or just "FAT".
The FAT32 option gave me no results.
I tried again using simply "FAT", and it works just fine!
GOOD LUCK!
