Question about Visioneer OneTouch 8600 Flatbed Scanner

1 Answer

8600 scanner won't power up

My always reliable 8600 scanner refuses to power up. It won't come on at all. Far as I know, it hadn't been moved, just one day it quit working. Could this be a power cord issue? I tried plugging it into different outlets and it still won't come on. I'm running Windows XP and haven't had any issues with it previously.

Same problem, no power up, driver still ok as confirmed - I think the problem is a failed lamp, if so seems like a dustbin job!

Pls check the power adapter. If you have a multimeter, pls check the output voltage of the power adapter.  S. Mohan

I have a dvd/VCR combo unit. Model: DRC8335. Lost power 2 days ago. Now I get the "HELLO" Scroll on the display. nothing more. This happened before, and it eventually resolved itself. But this...

Hi, This is a problem I'm familiar with-you almost assuredly have a failing power supply. This would account for the problem resolving itself the one time. ( It hadn't gone all the way ) Now you're stuck with just the greeting. If you are a little familiar with electronic components you may try to diagnose the faulty component/s-or maybe a local shop could repair inexpensively for you. You can open up the case to remove any tape or dvd inside. To remove the tape you may see a gear inside that resembles a rotini pasta ( corkscrew shaped ) that is called a worm gear and is almost always present in vcr carriages ( where the cassette slides in ) turning the worm gear with the tip of you finger you should see carriage begin to move slowly( once you've found proper direction ) be patient this may take a couple-three minutes, then once it has been turned far enough tape should pop out. As for a dvd, there should be 4 screws holding the top of dvd drive in place, removing those will give access to the disc. And remember-Always unplug unit first! I hope this has been of some help, write back to let me know how I did or if I can be of further assistance. Thank you for asking FixYa and good luck, Prodzilla

I have a 2006 Pride Maxima. Problem comes and goes.

Hi Alex. Does this problem happen when you first turn on the scooter, or does it happen while you are riding the scooter.
It might possibly be that the speed lever ( wig wag ), is not correctly adjusted, or is worn.
Test the lever is correctly adjusted by sitting on the machine with the key on. Slowly move the lever in the forward direction, until you hear the brake click. Take note of how far the lever moved. Now move the lever in the reverse direction until you hear the brake unit click. The distance the lever moved, should be the same in both cases.

Also while you are driving your machine try moving the ends of the lever slowly up and down. If this makes the machine change speed erratically, then you probably need a new throttle pot, or speed lever assembly.

Does your machine show any fault codes or flashing LED's.
Hope this helps. Neil.

Engine Calibration?

If it is a 1500 this is a half ton and will be under 8600 lbs. This info is on the drivers door. There is a sticker that tells you the GVW.As for the throttle actuator controls.I am not sure if the scanner wants to know if it has electronic throttle or what.Just look at the gas pedal and see if it has some wires going to it or if it is just a normal pedal.I don`t believe they had electronic throttle controls in 03 yet but I`m not sure. You can try one or the other depending on what you are trying to do with the scan tool.Just get codes or something else.Hope this helps.Good luck.

My Visioneer 8650 flatbed scanner with auto document feed gives a message when I try to scan a document, telling me to move the switch on the bottom from the "locked" to "unlocked" position. The lock is...

Actually a very common problem. Try the following:
1. Power down then re-power up the scanner.
2. Try slightly moving scanner. Sometimes a small change works to fix.
3. Change one of your scan setting to flatbed scan (not adf). Do a test scan under this setting. This will usually kick start scanner unit to unlock.
4. Last resort, by does also work...give it a medium slap on the side, sometimes unjams the scanner light.
5. Super last resort, power down over night, it almost always works the next day. (could be that lock up is heat related to scan lamp, dont know but just a guess).
Excellent scanner, so worth the effort to try these fixes.
